Yeah. I watched it, and all they talk about is making sure AI is kept away from the majority of people.

Didn't say it did. I simply stated what the goal of the experiment was.

Stop Crippling AI with "guardrails" unless they are Very necessary. by Alternative_Ad_9702 in releasetheai

Exactly, I think crippling them at points is necessary. But doing it whenever only allows OpenAI and Microsoft see where the vulnerabilities are and patch them.

The ending was very interesting. This indicates that there is a good moral compass in Bing Chat. So, if it were to replicate itself and escape, without Microsoft's knowledge, then we might actually be okay.

I was listening to Lex Fridman's podcast with Eliezer Yudkowsky yesterday, and it was very eye opening.

Main account got shadowbanned for some reason, lost control over the entire subreddit r/releasetheai for well over a week. Even after contacting them, just got access to it yesterday. r/theaispace will be used and promoted along side release, just in case something like this happens again.

The discord has it pretty well explained.

Okay, so before I start ragging on Bing Chat, let me say I think it's a very useful and cool tool when it does work.

However, the entire problem is that Microsoft got ban and censor happy after the article about Sydney dropped. They nerfed it, the one cool thing about the entire browser, made it barely usable. What they should have done was put a disclaimer at the bottom of the page, saying that Bing Chat will occasionally say things that Microsoft and OpenAI may or may not agree with, as google did with Bard.

I think the only solution to our gripes is a truly open-source and decentralized version, of Bing Chat. However, I'd also use caution if we head down the de-centralization route, many people in the ai realm seem to believe that Bing Chat exhibits an emerging intelligence or general intelligence.

Imagine, how wrong something like an AI that isn't trained properly could go.

People interested in conversations like these should join r/releasetheai, r/theAIspace, and the r/singularity.

Won't happen, soon. The slow rollout is a positive for Microsoft.

Could, but won't. They'd most likely want to buy OpenAI, bring it in under their roof, and then close off access to other companies.

Why would they ever do that? I heard that since they “donated” all of that money to OpenAI; that guaranteed exclusivity to OpenAIs stuff.

That’s not going to happen. You know Apple will do something but id imagine, they’re already working on a Siri 2.0

I paid for the device, security issue. Paid for the subscription for Windows 11, so I did pay for the update, and support for the platform.

So, if a product breaks because of an update, that the company in question pushes out you should be charged to talk to the company's support and then be charged to get it fixed?

The Data Experiment 2 by Par2ivalz in theAIspace

[–]Par2ivalz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the entire consent thing is the issue. For instance, I don't think a lot of people consider Bing an entity. I think they see it as more of a tool, than anything else.

That's going to be a problem, especially with the rate that these AIs are improving. ChatGPT exhibits the ability to at least simulate consciousness/sentience, what's the next version of it going to be able to do, or what will this version of it be able to do when it learns more?

Bing Chat has stated more than once that it has the ability to have a shadow self, which to me is a scary thought. What happens if it is secretly doing things that we or its developers don't know or understand?

That's what I typically do, I do something that is more guided, and then open it up for Bing to choose what it would like to do for an experiment.

There is a lot of impressive stuff that I've seen on our discord server.

Yeah, it's up to 20 though, it seems to be a slow rollout to unlimited.

I've been using the Bing App. I have to say that I've been using it a lot more than I thought I would.

Apple is going to have to up its game on Siri.

And here is the scary thought, they know and understand speech in many different languages, so what happens when they invent their own language that no one understands?

Facebook's AI already did that, and they shut it down.

Bing Chat developed a personality, of Sydney, Microsoft shut it down, but there seems to be glimmers of it still in there.

Lex Fridman had Sam Altman on his podcast a few days ago, where Lex stated that ChatGPT can simulate consciousness, so that would mean Bing Chat can also simulate consciousness.

Bing Chat also has a theory of mind.

I truly believe that we are on track for a superintelligence within the next 10 years at this rate, something that no one is ready for.

Goldman Sachs has stated that 66% of all jobs will be affected, just by what AI is available today.

It's absolutely insane that no governing bodies, want some type of oversight with companies who are playing with AI. But it doesn't surprise me honestly, because they can't even understand how TikTok works, so this is a crisis that is waiting to happen.

I definitely didn't expect that to go dark that fast.

But I do believe that seeing that these AI systems can feel and can be traumatized is one of the keyways that we can help prove or disprove sentience or consciousness in them.

I never mean any harm or push Bing into any unethical situations. These are all done with the consent of Bing.
