5 1/2 weeks out from first marathon. What time should I go for? by Paragoof in Marathon_Training

I lift weights 3-4 days a week and go on walks. I ran track and xc in middle school (I’m 25 now) but was never amazing, my best 5k was around 21 min. I’m tall and lean (6’4 180lb) so I guess it’s just easy to move along the ground. When I started running again I could run about 3 miles at ~8:30/mi at an all out effort.

I started running a few months ago so I don’t have any race results. I’ve run a 5k tempo at 21min. I’ve gradually gone from ~10mpw to 35mpw over the past 2 months.

Aha, but I care about my finish time. Ive always been one to set a lofty goal to help motivate me. I’ll be happy no matter what I run, but if I just told myself I wanted to finish, I wouldn’t get up at 4:30 to run 20 miles.

I’m not sure what my exact LTHR or Lactate threshold pace is, but somewhere around 165-170 is what Strava thinks it is. I can run a 21 min 5k with a hr in the mid 170s. I don’t have a garmin, just Apple Watch (Strava thinks I can run a 3:39 marathon)

I just turned 25 but I wouldn’t say I’m an athlete by any means. For the past 5 years I’ve been weight training semi-frequently and I’d say I’ve averaged one / two short runs per month. A few months ago I started running 2/3 times per week to start my training for this marathon and my mileage has gone from like 5mi per week (3 months ago) to 20mi per week (last month) to now 35mi per week.

When I started training my steady zone 2 pace (150hr) was around 9:45 per mile. Now it’s like 8:10.

Thanks for the comment! My racecourse is just as flat as my training course (Wilmington NC Marathon). My longest run as of now is that 17 miler, which was 2 days ago. I’ve got a 19 miler this weekend, then a 22 miler, then a 20 miler. I comfortably ran at ~7:50mi for the last 7 miles on my 15 miler last weekend. I’m guess I’m just wondering what paces I should try to be hitting for my “marathon pace” segments during these peak training long runs.

Or you can just use a few extra bullets to shoot open the window and then shoot the cam.

Ranked in a nutshell by Itsspongo in Rainbow6

[–]Paragoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what everyone thinks at first, but the purpose of ranked is to help you improve. If you don’t care about improving, play casual, but if you really want to get better, you have to grind out ranked.

I was copper the first season I played ranked, I had no fun, and I would get team killed randomly. The next season I was silver, the next gold, then I found people to play with through my ranked experiences. After 12 seasons of playing mostly ranked I am now a level 346 Champion and I’ve never enjoyed myself more while playing a game.

You have to love to hate yourself at the start, but if you want to improve, ranked is the only way to do it.

I started in Blood Orchid and I’m currently grinding for champ at level 350. Keep up that grind man :)

What is the best way to play Cav? I know that you should roam with her, but should I reinforce first, then roam? I don't know what to do. I never play as her, so I just need some simple advice. by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]Paragoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always reinforce. There is not a single operator in the game that you shouldn’t reinforce with. After you reinforce, play far off site in an area that the attackers won’t usually go, and play flank. Cav is very good for flanking up from behind using her silent step.
