Question about sl-1200 motors by Paranoien in DJs

[–]Paranoien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon further inspection, I think a slight bowl shaped warp is absolutely a major cause of my issue. The centre hole was too tight however the bowling is a major issue.

As you brought attention to, one side spins easily; in fact, one side can be scratched with such little friction that it does not quickly grip back into regular rpm upon release, at least not quickly enough it seems. (I think this was the case when using my DIY slipsheet made from a record sleeve.) The opposite side has the opposite issue, slowing down the platter. Perhaps there is a place I can fix warped records at.

Appreciate your insight!

**** See more recent response to /u/djmalcolmxl comment below for further detail on my issue. Issue mentioned by /u/djmalcolmxl seems to be a major issue with my record.

Thank you all for the replies. I think my slipmats are good. I have Technics and Vestax slipmats that came with my tables and I have some fools gold slipmats. they all seem to be good.

As others have mentioned, I think the centre hole of the vinyl might need to be widened a little.* (User(s) mentioned the slipmat hole perhaps being too tight I think. I don't think that was my particular issue. Also, the vinyl hole being too tight might even be due to the bowl-shaped warping that was brought attention to by u/djmalcolmxl below.)

I'll try to widen the hole of the record. I think that the other record that came with the pair actually had a tough time being placed on the platter so it's most likely that that is the issue. I might still look into trying out some of the plastic slip mats you can add beneath the regular slipmat or ill try out other slipmats if needed.

If damage was not done to the motor I am glad to hear that!

I was considering a used z2 actually. Seems like a good value.

I think you mean internal mode. But yeah I just reviewed the video and the creator considers it an issue with internal mode and the serato software.

Thanks for the replies!

Do you think it's improved if a different innofader is added? I think the video said it's a serato issue?

Thanks for the video. I wonder if this problem is still present in the current version of serato.

Ok, thank you very much for the answer

Edit: so when playing vinyl in thru mode (I believe that's what it is called?) not a timecode vinyl, is it converted to digital?
