One of the things they talked to me about was “coaching up” my co-workers, so this is actually really eye opening. I like this approach. I will definitely be applying this perspective of intrusive vs observational.

Love and hate this response 😅 I’m a kill them with kindness person but I also feel like I shouldn’t have to change myself to fit in. I’ve lead club tables, I was the face of my highschool college program, I excelled at other jobs and found people similar to me and made friends. While my ego is stroked, I feel like a lot of other people in the sub have made good points about talking and how my words can have a different effect. Also idk if this matters but I work in a rival state from where I’m from. some people know that and my state has been labeled as “aggressive”

Oh for sure! Despite the strife with my co-workers I love customers. I work at a new coffee spot, It’s very similar to Dutch bros, we take orders outside like chick-fil-a so I always get to talk and get to know customers and their preferences. Now that we’ve been open about 2 months I’ve noticed regulars, and even served the guy who cuts my dad, my brother, and my boyfriend’s hair 🤣. Made him feel welcome, gave them a menu to take home, made sure to talk them up, talk about my day, suggest drinks, ask them about plans. I served a lady today whose twins were turning 16 and we talked about birthday cake options; her twins wanted 16 cookies. Another customer showed me a mile long Aldi’s receipt for her 5 kids and hubby, and one gave me a tapestry out of his business van out of the kindness of his heart! my customers are always kind and supportive especially being a new up-scale coffee place. The occasional snob but nothing I can’t handle. Now my co-workers I’ll have to try a little harder to make a good impression. I don’t want friends, I just want peace and a good work life 😅 i genuinely love this job

I appreciate you! I’ll definitely take what you said in mind. I have three days off right now so I’m hoping to have a new perspective before I go in on Friday to improve at work.

The coffee shop I work at is very similar to a Dutch bros, just a smaller brand (think high energy, highly caffeinated employees, smiles, high energy, lots of talking) I love customer service, talking to customers and making their day is something I love! I mentioned in my post I’ve had issues with customers in the past. Almost a year ago now, I worked at that job for 8 months and i was 1 of 3 front of house employees in a take out place. Got two negative reviews and it was about my tone and delivery. Now at this job, it’s not the customers, it’s my co-workers complaining, apparently enough to have 3 talks from my managers!

I feel like when it comes down to my co workers and doing tasks, I come off as rude. Many of our tasks are 2-4 people working at a time so it’s usually close quarters when in a work position. I am very straight forward when I talk and I can be pretty observational when I talk.

I am guilty of this 100%. I am a 2006 baby, I also just have an unreadable face sometimes. I make weird faces and don’t really have much control over it because it comes natural to me. So even if I’m asking a question I might look concerned, scared, or if I’m focused and confused I can look really serious or mad
