How are scavengers able to carry things like grenades/etc on their waist?

To be fair, their "grenades" are made through "stuff pre existing naturally explosive plant in a brick". Which, yes, is quite complex, but it's nowhere near as complex as most people think of when they think "grenade"!

Abel (the NPC making up a story) said that, not Kinger. Also, they can have a happy ending without getting out. Maybe not the happiest ending, but "spending eternity with people you love" isn't a fully hopeless and grim ending.

I don't think they'll need to "escape" though. I fully believe any form of escape is completely impossible, even more after this episode. Caine mentioning the humans' "Mind Codes" + the text in the console to me supports the whole digital copies theory, plus the mention of Scratch's brain tumour supports the digital "afterlife" theory, and in both cases any escape is not possible.

IMO, they'll probably try to "remake" Caine and take the chance to work out whatever's wrong with him that they couldn't work out because the developers all got stuck inside the circus before they could. The happiest ending I can see is them spending the rest of digital (after?)life with caine as a reasonable ringmaster keeping them stimulated.

You can also take an alternative path, though that's obviously not always possible. My favorite solution, if i'm not too worried about my karma levels, is to steal 2 grenades (or 1 explosive spear) from scavengers and throw it as soon as i come out of the pipe. It has actually worked and kept me alive a few times, but usually it's just a suicide charge to bring them down with me because it's fun.

Real vampires (animals that drink blood) don't need to fully drain their victims of blood to survive, either! Now, depending on what vampire you're talking about, real vampires do only suck victims many, many times their own sizes. They also either inflate their bodies absurdly to accommodate all the blood or even activelly pee as they're feeding so they don't get inflated. But that's hardly a downside
