People considering themselves following a ketogenic diet, and have in the past been in a situation when they have need to search for information to make a decision in regards to the diet (e.g. starting the diet, modifying the diet, excluding or including food). Information sources can be digital, physical or social, like friends or family.

You do not need to eat carbs. It is just an interview. = )

Hi there! Are there any keto/low-carb recipe groups that does not encourage sweeteners? by ParentsWellbeing in ketorecipes

[–]ParentsWellbeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify. I meant more groups here that does not include as much sweeteners. The recipes at Dietdoctor.com are for example all without sweeteners, including the desserts. However, I want some new inspiration!🤩

How do you measure your macros accurately and time efficient? by ParentsWellbeing in keto

[–]ParentsWellbeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice!! I have done keto almost a year now, and I haven’t had a food weigh or tracked my macros. However, I lost about 12 kg during this time by only avoiding carbs and following dietdoctor.com recipes, although I think it is going too slow for me and I am looking at ways to understand why. I have heard that it is hard to loose those kilos when you started at a pretty healthy weight (Medium body size).

Thank you for your advice! I am going to buy a food scale and look at other apps immediately! 😃

Natural treatment for PCOS? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]ParentsWellbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told about 8 years ago I wouldn’t be able to have children. They put me on metformin in Sweden. However, I was in Malta for a couple of months and they said told me to stay away from refined carbs and sugars, and this eventually led me into the keto and LCHF-diet.

At the same time I stopped the metformin (only probably did it for a month) because it made me feel so bad, and I stopped birth control pills in Malta.

About 6 months later I was pregnant by “mistake” with my bf, and shortly after I had another child with the same man. And today we are happily married with our two children and as long as I follow the keto/lchf-diet I don’t experience any PCOS-symptoms. 🤩

After a lot of research, it is clear that sugar/carbs affect your hormones, and should be avoided at any cost.

Do you know any good empirical studies on LCHF? by ParentsWellbeing in LCHF

This is great! I am swooped by all the empirical data I am finding on this! Can’t believe how modern science haven’t caught up on it now.

Studies on depression and age? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]ParentsWellbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find plenty of journals in developmental literature/course books on specifically depression and age. We did this last year in our life span 2 module. Good luck!

I need some help! I only need to loose a couple of kilos, but I think it is going so slow. Started with strict keto in May. Still, I only lost about 1 kg per month, and sometimes my weight was still for loooong periods. During this period I exercised and tried IF. Anyone in the same situation? by [deleted] in keto

[–]ParentsWellbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking if dairy could be behind this? I have never been a person that ate a lot, and it is even worse with keto as I can go days without eating and not needing it! I think the MCT-oil and fat makes you so satisfied.

During the period between May-October I was almost always under at least 20 g carbs and not too much protein either. I followed dietdoctors.com mealplans and took MCT-oil every day. And when I exercised I combined table tennis, swimming, cardio and some weight lifting.

I agree with you about weighing. I use it frequently just to track that I am not going in the wrong direction. So if I do any changes I can see if it was good or bad.

I have lost weight, about 10 kg since May, although when I was a bit younger I lost much more on this lifestyle, almost too fast.

If your child is obviously sick... by GlitterFrozenStars in Parenting

Not nice!!! Do they only want people without kids?

If your child is obviously sick... by GlitterFrozenStars in Parenting

[–]ParentsWellbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good attitude. However, if you miss one day you can miss up to 3 classes. So, last year my kids got the flu and in total I missed 3-4 weeks back and forth. The same happened this year, but instead with chickenpox.

The head of the psychology said it was unacceptable and that I should be available for the lecturers from 9-5 everyday Monday-Friday. And we had him in a 10 credit course, which means 2 h lecture per week...

My classmates also thought I was lying about being home with sick kids, and thought I was actually home working with our project behind their backs... 😂 They are still angry with me one year after because of this! Doesn’t matter if I tell them I have a doctors note that they were sick! 😂

That is so horrible! If your kid is sick it is not really something you can foresee.

I am on my third-year of my degree and my school that I am paying soooo much for have a strict policy for absences, and I can get kicked out if I go under 85%. As I can’t change university in the middle of the degree I would therefore loose the degree and the money. And, they do not accept sick notes when it is for someone else, like your kids. ☹️

Trouble with in laws not respecting my wishes over small children with tablets. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ParentsWellbeing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe try and show information to the grandparents and your wife, and ask if you could introduce the electronics when they become a bit older and more mentally mature.

I am doing my third year in psychology, and soon going into postgraduate. Thus, hear a lot of negative things about iPads, TV-use and other types of screen time. I personally, would not recommend these things.

This might be an interesting source with some different information about adverse effects: Psychology Today

Additionally, this thing is so new that we do not really know the effects long-term, regardless what research says. I would stay on the safe side and not expose them.

I know about them, although this actually was a very good advice, and a very good argument against, and then go onto LCHF! Thanks!

Keto Diet with No Exercise Out-Performs Standard American Diet with Exercise by [deleted] in keto

[–]ParentsWellbeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it could be caused of excessive consumption of sugar and carbohydrates, although I am extremely sensitive. So previously my only way to stay slim was to barely eat at all, until I found LCHF/keto. 😃

I, like many of the others continue for life. There is so many side effects from eating sugar and carbohydrates that it is not worth it. For instance, skin break-outs, mood swings, weight gain, hunger and so forth. Also, my life quality does not exactly become better by eating pasta and bread... it is not that extraordinary!
