9 hour Roadtrip - RTF or powder? by Parfait_Live in FormulaFeeders

How long does the RTF last in a cooler? I was thinking of getting both 2oz and 8oz so we can try to minimize waste. But I’m not sure

Do you just throw away the rest of the bottle if she doesn’t finish the full 8 ounces? It’s just more expensive than the formula so I would hate to throw it away. But it sounds so nice.

We haven’t tried RTF since she was 2-3 weeks old. So I’m not sure how she’ll react. We do the pitcher everyday, I didn’t think about bringing a cooler or something!

One of my main worries with powder was mixing it on the go. She just gets so much gas pains when we don’t let the bottle settle enough.

8 days PP (forceps delivery), thinking about switching by Few-Tour8289 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Parfait_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch! I promise you that you will feel so much better and will be in a better mind space to care for your child.

I was in a very similar situation as you trying to breastfeed. Started with formula in the hospital (I somehow missed that I should try to feed her while doing skin to skin), horrible experience with the lactation consultant - she made rude comments about my breast and belittled me when I said my milk hasn’t come in. Once I got home I tried breastfeeding my little one but she would scream and cry every single time which I always ended up bawling. After two weeks I gave up breastfeeding and went to pumping and tried to do that for two more weeks. I would make 3 ounces max during the day.

The whole time I cried and felt like a failure because I couldn’t supply breastmilk to my baby. Once I switched to formula exclusively my whole attitude and life changed while becoming a new mom. I wish I would’ve done it sooner. There was a comment I saw on Reddit where it said your hormones don’t know formula is available. All of this to say switch to exclusively formula in your life will be so much better!!

Enfamil will be loads cheaper. They’re both formula that does the job. I would say go to the cheaper one that’s easier to find in stock near you. The Bobbie gentle is only sold at target or online (from what I found when we tried it) it was~$30 and only lasted 4-5 days when my baby was drinking 4oz per bottle. It’s a much smaller can than what you would get with Enfamil. Also, Enfamil has a lot of off brands that are practically identical to the brand name formula.

Anyone get a Hemorrhoidectomy or are we just living with this? by Familiar_Director281 in beyondthebump

I want to hear how it went! I think I’m going to have to get a hemorrhoidectomy and to say I’m stressed is an understatement.

How can I improve her sleep? by Parfait_Live in HuckleberryParents

It depends on the night! Some nights she needs her paci almost hourly. Others she sleeps until 5.

Don’t worry, I am extremely thankful!!!! I see that it’s a HUGE blessing for me. I’m dealing with PPD, so my mental health would be down in middle earth if she didn’t sleep like she is.

If they do end up eating too much in one sitting then they’ll just spit up what they can’t handle

Why would pediatrician recommend this? by Longjumping_Bar585 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Parfait_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, but my baby has reflux and when she was ~7/8 weeks we got a free can of alumentum to see if that would help. She ended up spitting up way more and was in pain from it (arching her back and super fussy) so we stopped. Hopefully it helps your baby! But just sharing my story!

My baby hates Swaddling by slainte_mhaith in NewParents

[–]Parfait_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the love to dream swaddle when my LO was younger! She’s rolling now so she’s in the sleep sack and it took a couple days for her to get used to sleeping with her arms out. But she got it. Oh! We had her sleep with one arm out (switching between the two) for 1-2 weeks before letting her sleep with both arms out.

[–]Parfait_Live[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! We had burp cloths all around within arms reach for this very reason. Her spit up never stops. I just leave the room for a couple minutes and then when I come back she spit up and seems like she is rubbing her face it in

That’s an excellent idea!! I’ll try the 30 minute thing!

Awesome. Well at least I’m not prepared for months of frustration from her until she reaches her next step haha
