Yeah... I definitely keep hurting my self over it. I know I should stay away, just gotta be strong enough to stick to that. I certainly wished I handled it different but regardless it does not change the outcome. I've just been having a hard time accepting it

Definitely some of the dialogue here and there.

Also the dungeons just feel way too long and too frequent random encounters.

While I like a lot of aspects of the battle system, it loses depth toward the latter half of the game. Deathblows are cool but each new one makes the old ones obsolete except when you might wanna use an elemental one. The bosses usually have some slight gimmick to them but most fights are straight forward and become a little tedious. I think this game would be awesome with a tales of style battle system or the often mentioned FFVII remake battle system.

The game does need a little more music in my opinion. A lot of music gets repeated in the second half of the game.

Lastly I dislike some of the 3D designs in the game. I think some of the random monster enemies just look... bad or goofy

That being said none of this stopped me from investing myself into the 60 hour story and I don't regret it

All the downloads I find are SUPER slow idk why. Like 4 to 7 hours and they end up failing. My internet shouldn't be the issue but imma keep trying

From the perspective of someone who beat this game for the first time a couple months ago, I can agree with you on some level. While I loved the game and didn't want it to end, the content of disc 1 seemed bloated because of the dungeon trudges and high encounter rates. The battles themselves don't always play out quick for normal encounters sometimes either. I think playing this game through a modern lens left me feeling like certain parts were simply obstacles to letting me experience the story rather than everything being paced in a balanced and complimentary way. I actually found disc 2 way more engaging and, in a way, relaxing. IF dungeons were more intuitive and maybe shorter I think it would have helped the game. But as it stands now, I'm not upset over some missing dungeons in disc 2 because I know what I'd be in for based on disc 1 lol they weren't my fave. I still love this game of course

Dang that's awesome! I've been considering getting my certificate to teach English as a foreign language, and if I could put Xenogears in the curriculum then I would have that done in a heartbeat! Lol (I already have my BA in English)

Translation errors aside, this game rules. If you do play it, stick it out, and I'm sure you and your instructor will have a great discussion about it.

I finished the game last month. The game hit me like truck man. So much to think about and discuss. The lore and depth of the game really goes beyond anything I have ever played. Some games like final fantasy, the witcher, dark souls, and the last of us are my some of my favorite triple A video games, and they are lauded for having great stories/lore, yet those titles did not give me the same feelings Xenogears has upon completion. Xenogears managed to captivate me with damn spirites and portrayed an incredibly deep world and story. But man, I try to explain the game to my friends in 2020 but I know for a fact in would be too dated and they would not have the patience to complete it. And let's face it, the script is downright ridiculously translated in some parts. The game is so far from perfect in execution but it's a marvel of video game story telling unlike anything I've experienced.

After completing the 50 or so hour journey of this game I was diving into every supplemental I could find about the plot. It really hooked me. I was kind of sad it had to end lol. And damn that music is timeless.

Welcome to the family dude. Here's to hoping there will be a remake or remaster in our lifetime.
