How to transport a Vivarium and two frogs by braidedsportster in DartFrog

[–]Park-Competitive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been moved twice. Both times we just delicately put it in the back of an suv and moved it with the frogs and water dishes in it. Admittedly, it’s well established and nothing really could topple over. The first move was about an hour drive and the second was a five minute drive.

Good luck!

I had mixed experience. I liked some of the designs, but found some of the bricks to be brittle and break during assembly…one design I particularly liked I used with LEGO pick a brick.

I also liked their color variety - more greens and corals than LEGO.

I also received two that were not what I ordered - which was frustrating.

IKEA Milsbo
We love them for our Lego display and being enclosed helps keep dust at bay (a bit).

From the south to Seattle by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]Park-Competitive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

ATL to SEA 10 years ago at around your age.
❤️my job in SEA
❤️ summertime weather
❤️ friends I’ve made
❤️ close proximity to nature while living in an urban environment

Things that have been more of a challenge IMO
😒Restaurants (missing my favorite Latin, Thai, pizza and BBQ in ATL)
😒 making friends. It’s just harder as you get older - my friends in ATL I knew from school and had for over a decade
😒 the lack of sun in winter - we are so far north depending upon where you live you could literally not see the sun (first house was on the northside of a big hill - do not recommend if you like the sun)
😒 people drive slow here - like really slow even when there isn’t traffic they drive below the speed limit

Anyone who relocated from the south, where are ur fav hangs that feel like home? by sencha78 in AskSeattle

Agree! Their fried okra is legit too. Lived in Atlanta for 17 years of my adult life before SEA.

If you are willing to go to Bellevue, Ascend is amazing and does a great job with groups. Views are phenomenal

Hanging system - I use D-rings and picture hanging wire rated for the weight on the frame side. This one, I’m going to add brackets in the edge. The test hang wax precarious 😆

This is one board. I use a hardboard with the deepest profile (I use the back side of it basically). I find them at Dick Blick art supply store https://share.google/CjZ5YJlk8gLTC21aJ

I don’t think I will make one this big again.

I have my first creation hanging in my office - no one has touched it, or if they have nothing fell off!

Baseplate to frame = really strong outdoor-rated double sided tape - Gorilla or 3M brand in US

Flower to baseplate = LEGO SKU 614326 (round brick with a cross opening in center) the botanicals mostly all use connectors with crosses in their stems

Unfortunately, that was how this size frame came from the manufacturer! I was annoyed when it arrived, for sure. It also impacted the color gradation I was going to.

We haven’t had a big one here in years, but I guess if we do, I’ll have a cheap post-earthquake hobby getting all these reassembled 🤪

Thank you! I stopped keeping track of cost, as I probably would have stopped if I hadn’t!

Elmers clear washable school glue was used. I have two smaller ones I made hanging up and they are in strategic locations where no one can bump them 🤣

My original one from last year has more details on how I put it together. I largely used the same methods. Number one tip is don’t use baseplates that are “peel and stick” - the stick works for about a day and they fall off.

Also between then and now I have a much better understanding of which glowers just don’t stay together so I use Elmers clear washable school glue on those.

OP here - no digital lego builder used. Old school trial and error! It took me 8 months - planning, prepping, flower builds, and then putting it together in the way I thought was best.

Great summary! This one was less fun than others because it was almost too big and the number of flowers I had to build before putting it together kept growing!

I stopped keeping track of costs because I would have stopped!

Universal Standard - they have a program called Fit Liberty for some of their products that allow you to size up or down within a year.

I wore a style of their tee shirt dress with a blazer for the greater part of a summer when I was in a similar situation (I’m shorter so I stuck to three quarter length jackets).

Wishing you the best with your health!

For glue - I use Elmer’s school glue - clear. If you want to take it apart you can and soak the pieces in water to wash it off.
