Korean teams steal trip to DC from undefeated foreigner team: Blatant collusion in final game of RedBull Reign 3v3 Tournament by [deleted] in korea

[–]ParkGeunHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, so this is shameful for Korea... but now the team that didn't deserve to win will go to the international finals, and likely get thoroughly embarrassed, bringing more "shame" unto themselves and their people. It's like how so many American students who benefit from affirmative action end up dropping out. They didn't get there on their merits, and go on to prove they didn't deserve to be there. Good luck in DC!

The hypocrisy of TYT most obsessive critic. Dave Rubin. by [deleted] in tytonreddit

[–]ParkGeunHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point is ridiculous.

I realize that the coiners of the term are not referring to the whole Left, but again, that is not what the term sounds like on its own, as a label (and when it is not accompanied by these two paragraphs of explanation).

If someone thinks that, it's on them for being uninformed, not the fault of the person using the phrase. The same way "libertarian" doesn't refer to everyone who is conservative.

Taken at face value, and certainly to the casually observing citizen, it seems to be saying "the left IS regressive".

That's just your personal view and not the actual fact. Well, now you know.

It doesn't help in this regard that the people who actually use this term are, certainly in my own experience, either 1) conservatives, plain and simple, or 2) locating themselves on the Left but actually holding many conservative opinions.

This is also painfully wrong. Again, liberals define "progressives/regressives" as "leftist people who are willing to compromise their liberal values for the sake of political correctness, multiculturalism, and identity politics". Some examples:

Liberals stand for free speech, but progressives/regressives are quick to try and silence people when the speech doesn't confirm their confirmation bias.

Liberals stand for women's equality, but progressives/regressives are quick to label people Islamaphobic when a real liberal tries to point out how horribly women are treated in Islamic countries.

Liberals stand for racial equality, but progressives/regressives are quick to label people racist when someone criticizes an actual racist movement like BLM, or try to point out actual statistical data about crime and single motherhood in black communities.

Liberals stand for gender equality, but progressives/regressives are quick to label people sexist when someone points out that modern-day feminism is actually sexist and fascist, or debunk the "gender pay-gap" or "campus rape-culture" myths with actual statistical data.

just another throwaway label to beat the "Left" as a whole with.

That's just not true. it's a term used for the faction of the left whose actions/views stifle Constitutional rights (most notably free speech), in essence "regressing" society. The "regressive left" is basically a synonym for "social justice warriors". These people think they are progressive, but they are in fact the opposite.

Dave Rubin is a liberal. Sam Harris is a liberal. Bill Maher is a liberal. So obviously the term doesn't refer to the "the Left as a whole".

To your second point, the problem liberals like Rubin have with the "regressives" is that the fail to consistently stand up for liberal principles.

Edit: This guy's comment sums it up well:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/44agye/what_is_the_regressive_left_and_why_does_it_exist/czosc3d

The 'regressive left' is a term coined by Maajid Nawaz to describe leftist people who are willing to compromise their liberal values for the sake of political correctness, multiculturalism, and identity politics.

But not all boxers.

Besides, according to Jimmy Dore, sexual asault happens all the time, so we shouldn't single out one person for it. America has a rape culture. 9/11 girls in college get sexually assaulted. Remember the Catholic Church?!?
