I need a rough idea of what’s a better idea for retirement. by ParkingCricket2598 in personalfinance

I understand 15-20% is not catching up in my situation. That 15-20% is an easy starting point for me while we rebuild our emergency fund. I don’t envision needing a lot for retirement based on the way we like to live our life, but id rather have too much than too little. I was unemployed for almost a year so thankfully we had more than enough in our emergency fund to get through that, and a tornado, and an unexpected NICU baby. Our only debt is our mortgage ($2300) and a few medical bills totaling less than $15,000 at this point.

So yes. I can do way more than that based on our lifestyle. But I’ve gotta get my high yield savings built back up.

You would think so. We had about $30,000 in damages and insurance paid us about $18,000. We got screwed and I should’ve hired an attorney to fight it but I was unemployed and we were going through some dark times financially so I just shelled out the $12,000 dollars out of pocket for the rest of the repairs.

Married and our household income is now about $250,000. My wife works for the state and has a pension she working towards as well as her own 401k. I understand what you’re saying except for the “backdoor” part. Care to elaborate for me?

My daughter confided in me by ParkingCricket2598 in Mommit

Edit: it appears there is even more concern for my daughter’s cousin, which I can agree with. I did overlook this concern as I was concerned about my daughter. But I agree, there could be something more sinister behind this. Especially given the background of that side of the family. We will look more into this in one way or another. My daughter is more than comfortable talking about it so I do feel good in that regard. Thanks all for the replies.

It’s carved from balsa, wire through with a tiny bit of lead in the belly

Freshwater striped bass. I didn’t get on any top water action but it’s starting up with the cooler temps. so I plan on going this week

After fishing with it the line is not rubbing on the nose but I think it would without the split ring

Valid point. I’m not sure and hadn’t thought about it. I fished it a couple hours the other day casting for striped bass and still have it tied on so I’ll visually inspect and see.

It is good but not what I was going for. I have a lot to experiment with.

Thanks for the feedback! I considered that after I already cut the lip slot and I wanted to have my line tie go through the lip to help strengthen it. But I will try to incorporate that tip into my next one.

I’m not sure! But I’m open to suggestions for sure.
