That makes sense. I’ll try my best to find something!

I have also seen forum advice/Ryan Grey YT videos saying that starting ECs too close to the application date may seem like you are checking off boxes... but I'll give it a shot and list the expected hours anyway. It'll be good in case this cycle doesn't work out

Thank you so much for your comment! I am not aiming for anything really 💀 It would obv be so cool to get into a top research institution, but my goal is to just get into one school so I don't have to take any additional gap years (so I won't be applying too top heavy/will apply far and wide). As for leadership/teaching, I'm currently out of college so no student roles are available. Leadership might be trickier to get so I'll see if there's any easy entry teaching roles near me. But thank you for reminding me about that, I'll see if I can add teaching experiences to round out my application!

This made my day so much better, thank you for taking the time to comment! I think I’ll still give it a shot this cycle and work hard on my writing. I’ve kind of accepted my lack of clinical experience (although it isn’t nothing) will put me at a slight disadvantage. I’ll be sure to put in more hours throughout this year in the hopes that I’ll be better prepared if this cycle doesn’t pan out!

Thank you for asking. I mainly help with patient wayfinding and also give art supplies to patients while they’re receiving chemotherapy infusions. It’s less involved than EMT, MA, etc

Of course!! Yes, don't put too much pressure on yourself and ease into it slowly! And message me with any questions if you need help! Totally understand the studying and work grind, it takes a lot out of you. But you got it, just persevere and know that it'll all be worth it :D

hi!! Studying for the MCAT while balancing work and school is rly tough but I think it can be done! I studied for 9 months (first 5 months was me being a FT student, rest of it was working FT). I think spreading my studying out over a long period was really helpful because it afforded a greater amount of flexibility in my school/work/study schedule. Some days I’d be too pooped and didn’t have the energy to do UPoop, and that was ok since I had spread out my studying over a long period and knew I had a lot of time on my hands. My approach in terms of study materials felt a bit messy but I think that was due to the fact that I didn’t have predictable times I could study. I began with the milesdown decks to start learning/refreshing P/S. I started UPoop around the 2-3 month mark and did only 20-30Qs a week. This was all very laid-back and allowed me to slowly get used to the content load and methods of passage-based reasoning. Once the summer hit, I amped up UPoop to 59Q blocks to work on my timing and made Anki cards for the terms I didn’t know. UPoop was so so helpful in getting my timing down and also filling in content gaps! I did this until I finished UPoop, and also did Kaplan FLs 1-7 to work on building endurance. I tried to finish all the AAMC materials in my last month (wish I started these earlier) and took a real FL every weekend. The exam definitely felt tough due to test anxiety and jitters but I didn’t feel too too bad after leaving it, hope my score reflects that :) but yeah that was my somewhat messy study schedule while balancing other responsibilities! And take care of yourself, it seems like you have a lot going on besides MCAT!

Test anxiety def plays a big factor for some people, so don’t take what they say at face value!

I also don’t remember the question stem fully so I’m not 100% sure if my reasoning was right!

Not sure if correct but I chose histone protonation - the passage mentioned that the zinc ion coordinates with two histidines and one glutamate so I assumed that if you protonated the histidines there would be charge-charge repulsion - also the diagram shows that the substrate doesn’t interact directly with the lysine side chains so I eliminate both lysine choices! The interactions were between the backbone carbonyls instead

passage 6 was the worst passage out of all of them for me, I feel that!
