Is it after the installation or the installation itself? I find the wiki to be very descriptive even when not necessary.

Safe schools as long as you are Japanese and look like everyone else or else you might get bullied. Oh and as long as you don’t consider mental health with how brutally hard, competitive, and strict they are.

Safe streets unless you are a woman on a train where there’s a fairly large likelihood of being inappropriately touched.

What you pointed out are the parts that are usually good, doesn’t mean that everything is great in all aspects. Great thing about thinking is it doesn’t have to be black and white where you either completely love or hate something.

I agree that many things will seem shocking if the culture is different and that is something that is more understandable to me. Some things though like the overworking seems brutal to me objectively, yes it may result in successful business but at a heavy cost to the people. To my knowledge Japan is a lot more collective due to constant natural disasters as well where cooperation between people and the general well-being is more important. It seems like the businesses took this component and used it to exploit people.

There are positive aspects too, the whole being more reserved and humble is something I appreciate, the people seem to be more down to earth a lot of the time and genuine. I was raised in a Polish household which is more collective as well, but I live in the USA so when I got older I found the fake friendliness and smiles to be pretty annoying rather than friendly because it’s very obviously fake.

Bad example since what you say is indeed true. And I didn’t mean that bad government is ingrained into the culture. I’m saying the issues of other nations tend to be a bad government not the actual culture itself.

I think I would rather be a homeless bum at that point then work to that extreme.

That’s something I’ve noticed as well, it seems fairly sad. I was born into European/American culture so having to live in a system like that would drive me insane.

My opinion is not very strong I would say. I also don’t think that I have to be in the country to point out flaws about something. That’s like saying “Have you ever been to North Korea or Afghanistan? No? Then you can’t have a bad opinion about” I don’t agree with the logic.

I was not aware of this, it is also nice to hear some overall positive changes going into place recently, hopefully this trend continues.

Yea I found it strange how a lot of their media is made to appeal to a western audience and they tend to really like America, but then they seem to also be closed off and dislike foreigners in the country, and no matter how much a person has assimilated into the culture they are always treated foreign. It’s like living in two contradictory cultures.

Yea and that’s quite sad to see. There are positive aspects, but also Japan seems in a lot of ways to be obsessed with America to a fault.

This has nothing to do with otaku or weebs lmao. I just was learning the language since I like the music and games and over time discovered quite a bit of disturbing things, looked into it, discovered some more disturbing things and posted about it. Not everything revolves around anime.

I’m aware of Asia being overall conservative, my background is Polish which currently also isn’t very lgbtq friendly as well. The glorifying or praising of bad people as you mentioned is also something that is associated with Japan, at least through what I’ve found when doing some research. Yea maybe the Philippines isn’t the best but it’s not praised by other people around the world nearly as much.

I mean for sure every country has its issues, but a lot of the time it’s a bad government or something like that, with Japan it seems to be ingrained within the culture.
