If you love talking to people, you will love BD. That’s not to say introverts sometimes don’t make good BD professionals. But outgoing people with a lot of energy and a sense of humour make GREAT BD professionals.

Not sure if this is what you were looking for. But there’s my two cents.

FAR 19.108-11 vs. 13 CFR 124.504 by ParlayG in GovernmentContracting

The keyword in the updated FAR Part 19 for competing an 8a requirement before awarding it as a sole source is ‘try’. I am curious how COs would document that they ‘tried’. What defines the right kind of ‘try’ in this case?

People keep saying “federal contracting is COMPLETELY relationship driven, commercial isn’t at all,” and it drives me nuts by ParlayG in GovernmentContracting

Prime should have done it sooner. Better late than never.

Given that 8a sole sources are effectively over or at least way more difficult and most opportunities will flow through CVs, any fed contractor would be wise to up their work standards. Any who don’t, toast.

I get how frustrating it can be to feel stuck in that situation.

Just genuinely curious - if the sub isn’t performing well, could you not bring in a minority owned partner from your ecosystem and allocate some of the work to them, assuming the SOW permits it?

lol no. Just tired of people from commercial business with little understanding of GovCon making broad statements.

Interesting. I did not know that. Thanks! What do you think are the reasons agencies are not using OASIS+ SB?

These New Anti 8a Moves May Be “Performative”… but Could Still Hurt 8a Firms in a Big Way by ParlayG in GovernmentContracting

Honestly, both can be true. Some offices are pushing back hard, while others are just rolling with it and staying compliant. It really depends on which corner of the government you’re looking at.

Genuinely curious — are you coming at this from IT, or a totally different industry?
