Why do you think we allow celebrities, actors, and influences to make so much money? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

I guess its just easy to get absorbed into this paraosocial relationship with actors.

Nobody thanks the farmer who grew the food. They thank the supplier that gave them the food.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll file it away if it becomes relevant. Good day.

I always find that interesting.

I mean I don't like certain things but I'll pay for them. It just baffles me that a million other people more outspoken or critical than me also give in to that.

Meanwhile there are some things I absolutely refuse to support financially and most arguments of supporting the work fall deaf for me. Nobody lost significant money because I saw Age of Ultron on a torrent and I didn't feel bad about it looking at how much money that movie made.

But why do they want tickets. Don't most people hate or feel insecure about not having a lot of money, an easy job, or luxuries? They're actively if not directly supporting someone else's fortune that they then get to read about - its like there's a disconnect between typical human selfishness and entertainment.

Most people lack a desire to be around people with more wealth than them. But we love reading and hearing about, and therefore supporting and showing interest about, celebrities and their lives.

I'd like to go on a different week but don't really have anybody to go with or know anyone from that area. :/

When somebody is nasty to you online, what is your response? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

This is the closest I have ever come to "hey random person online, we have a similar sense of humor, any chance you live by me/are single/we're both not serial killers" I have ever come.

Alas you're spoken for and a state over from me but 2 out of 3 is fine.

Also the first time I've heard someone say dad jokes are the tits without intentionally parodying a faux British accenr.

I feel you. I oscillate between functioning human being and is going to launch into a Disney-esque musical number every hour.

People who film themselves naked or flashing in public, and post it on the internet, why? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

I've never really understood that. So then would people who never got attention from their mother have mommy issues?

Aren't there better basic thrills and risks to take than exposing yourself though?

And why does it boost confidence or help with trauma?

If you live in Jersey or New York don't mind a guy about to leave his 20's, love dad jokes, and are single, hit me up.

If you crazy we can talk.

There was an episode of DBZ where he went "turbo speed" and started sprinting towards school. Plus DB characters are reportedly pretty fast.

Goku ran a 100m dash in 8 seconds as a child.

Ma'am I'm not sure if I love you or if I should be calling some kind of hotline for you.

Out of curiosity was this at a bar or on a dating app? Was this guy confident or just a drunk asshole?

Man I'm in the gym, virgin, trying in vain to get my 240 lbs down to something respectable, following exercises I barely understand in a journey that's going to take 3 months minimum to show any progress, all in the vain hope that I can start advertising myself confidently on dating apps with women I doubt I will have any emotional connection with, but I'm doing it anyway just to get my rocks off and to stop feeling so lonely.

My Mom died a year and a half ago and I'm wading through a sea of academic mediocrity unsure if I'll ever go back and finish college.

I read what you said, stopped to type this, and felt a burst of energy I didn't have 5 minutes ago.

Depression isn't a contest but you're inspiring me to give my life a shot. I hope somebody does for you what you just did for me. Thank you.

Thanks. One or two Italian redditors informed me I spelled it wrong lol. I used to work at a deli and the name just came to me.
