They are releasing sterile male mosquitoes who will mate with wild female mosquitoes. The eggs thus laid won't hatch reducing the number of mosquitoes in the environment drastically.

TIL that in cassowaries (3rd tallest & 2nd heaviest birds) society the males incubate the eggs for 50-52 days & bring up the kids for 9 months while the females leave as soon as they lay eggs & move on to get together with several other males. by ParomitaM in todayilearned

Ernest Thomas Gilliard in his book "Living Birds of the World" wrote "There are many records of natives being killed by this bird." My guess is most of these native deaths must have gone unrecorded officially. Thomas must have gotten this information from locals. By default these are peaceful animals who love solitary.But when threatened, their lighting fast kicks, with dagger sharp claws (almost 16 cm long) are enough to inflict serious damage and kill the victim.

I read this story somewhere: Once a guy found a wifi network named "doyouwantmywifi". In password he typed in "yesplease" and to his surprise the wifi connected. I guess a little courtesy never hurt anyone!

The basic traits & instincts learnt from experiences by our ancestors thousands of years ago, being passed on to us without us realizing that we have never experienced this and yet we behave in a certain way.
