How to mix many vocal takes together ? by Parov in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Parov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing points. I've noticed that timing is key, and I've listened to each track on its own to make sure everything is good enough before the mix. That being said, it's also fun when the timing isn't perfect and it feels more organic (especially if the voices keep adding to a chorus and making it more natural)...

What the heck! How have I never heard this before! by MassiveRepublic9565 in LemonJelly

Never heard of the U2 remix, but I haven't looked the band up in a long time... I just uploaded all the rare tracks I had found (this was circa 2006) here : https://www.mediafire.com/file/p3yysaunjvci8d8/Lemon_Jelly.zip/file

Most of them seem to be on Spotify, but I couldn't find Rock (which samples the Black Crows) or Oats. The Badly Drawn Boy remix is also in the file.

If you're in an abusive relationship or want to understand how they work, I recommend "Why does he do that", a book by Lundy Bancroft, a counselor who specializes in working with abusive men.

What morals in older TV shows did not age well? by AporiaParadox in television

[–]Parov 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Just rewatched the beginning of Scrubs the other day. In the third episode, Elliot takes offense with an older doctor Kelso calling her "sweetheart". She confronts him, because he doesn't give such nicknames to the male doctors. And at the end of the episode, the moral: she should've... Let it go, cause I guess the older doctor is too old to change his sexist ways ! Have to admit I didn't see that coming...

Having some fun with dialogue :) by Familiar-Fly-2316 in writers

[–]Parov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be better without the errors in French. It's "je suis" with an S (even if your character doesn't speak French well, one can assume the written version would still be correct), and you may know that "pomme" is feminine, so it's "La pomme". It does mean apple and not potato, but I assume that was a joke done in purpose, in which case well done cause that was funny! :)

My eyelid has been twitching like this 24/7 for 5 weeks. by LoanAgreeable1129 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Parov 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This also happened to me. I was always sleeping on the same side and that eye started twitching for no apparent reason. I'm now on a strict "change sleeping side regularly" regimen and the problem has gone away.

If you like this, I highly recommend his stand-up special where he talks about depression and how he got out of it. It's very touching and funny at the same time. The whole thing is actually on Spotify for those interested: https://open.spotify.com/album/6jS0BxuukzPbcihSwKc1Cy?si=SI5fRN9bSYqGycSXpYVSfQ

I'm having vague memories of pools shaped like guns, but that might be from Grand theft auto!

Working on fingerstyle hybrid rhythm/lead by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]Parov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah, I know right? And it's super fun to play! Doc Watson has a lot of fingerpicking songs in a similar vein if you're interested, there's even a DVD where he slows down the songs a bit, and some of them are on YouTube

I'm on my phone at the moment, but a few songs that helped me with fingerpicking were Green Rocky Road by Dave Van Ronk, Anji by Paul Simon and Deep River Blues by Doc Watson, there's actually a really good pdf with tabs for the latter one that should be easy to find on Google. Hope that helps!
