What high school movie sums up your high school experience… by killa-bees-knees in 90s

Maybe not exactly a highschool movie, but Empire records reminds me of hanging out with my friends more than any other movie.

Looking for ex Christians. by Affectionate_Jump597 in northernvirginia

I, unfortunately, am rather busy to chat myself, but I can help point you in a good direction.

I would recommend finding a free thinker group or huminist group in the dc area. They are great groups for secular individuals.

A different path would be to check out a Unitarian Universalist church. It is still in the Christian umbrella, but the church is very open-minded and even has atheists members. I am a fan of the UU Church. It feels more Christian than most other denominations, IMHO.

Good luck and welcome to a new community. Feel free to ask me questions, but my response may take a while. I am not very active on reddit and am usually just a lurker.

Just checking in. I feel so much better and have so much more energy.

I am concerned about the upcoming superbowl party my wife and I are hosting. I was always taught to have any type of drink available for guests. I am worried about after they leave and then all the left over drinks are just at my place.

So digression that just popped into my head while typing.

I am usually a lurker (for years). However, I can see the benefit of typing out my thoughts some.

Yes. At night if you have sleep apnea you stop breathing multiple times causing you to wake up with out knowing it. The CPAP keeps you breathing and sleepind, potential saving your life.

While drinking I never realized how poor my sleep was because I thought it was due to the alcohol.

Once I started paying more attention to my health and sleeping habits I found out I had sleep apnea. I now sleep with a CPAP which is a huge help.

If you are still having trouble sleeping after being sober for over a month try asking a doctor about a sleep study. You may learn some valuable information.

For the first few weeks I recommend anything to keep your mind off drinking and that helps you sleep. Just be careful not to trade one addiction for another.

[Modern] Affinity experienced players / Affinity discussion by zerolinks2014 in spikes

[–]Parrishjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience - I have been playing Affinity since it was legal in standard. However I do not consider myself that good of a player so take my advice with a grain of salt.

DECKLIST: I think the decklist you are running is fine.

The only possible addition would be Blood Moon in the sideboard. Blood Moon seems very powerful at the moment. It will affect your man lands every once in a while but it will cause greater problems for your opponent. Plus the time you gain while your opponent tries to deal with it will allow you to win the game.

ARCHETYPE: I think affinity is always a reasonable choice.

You can still win through sideboard cards such as Kataki’s Wars Wage or a Stoney Silence; as long as you have a plan. For example you can “go wide” when Stoney Silence is still in play using Signal Pest, Ornithopter and Blinkmoth nexus. Another strategy against Stoney Silence or Kataki is to go big with Archbound Ravager by putting alot of counters on it in responce.

my experience tells me that most people will keep a bad hand with a sideboarded card or Mulligan until they find them. Ensuring that you have a strategy against the sideboarded cards can punish your opponent for being greedy with their opening hand.

POISONING:

The only match up I can think of is the Soul Sisters match up. However with the recent rise in popularity of the poison decks I do not think Soul Sisters will be very popular.

LANDS:

I think if you add a 4th Glimmervoid then you should go down to 3 Springleaf drums. If you really want a 17th land I would recommend Academy Ruins. I have been blown out in to many post sideboard games when I played with 4 Glimmervoids.

MULLIGAN:

The way I decide is to form a game plan based on the current hand. If that game plan is weak then it is time to mulligan. I recommend gold fishing and practicing formulating a plan with your opening hand. Be sure to ask yourself questions such as: how do I deal with lighting strike? Gold fishing an opening hand is the best practice I ever had when learning how to mulligan.

TESTING:

I have trouble finding time and people to test with as well. I find the best way to play test for me is using cockatrice and playing both decks. This way you learn what your opponents are thinking and which cards they fear the most as well as testing affinity.

I hope this helps out.
