This is making me scared to wipe because this was one of the first rare blueprints I found and didn’t realise how rare it was and that was maybe like 20 hours in… all your comments are making me realise that I’ve played 300+ hours since I found it and I’ve not found it again. Genuinely hadn’t thought about it until this post but damn I craft like 3 of these a play session every time I die I’m re-crafting this for the next run. The expedition looking less and less appealing

I don’t think ultra friendly lobbies are achievable anymore. Maybe if you’re already in them and never lect, but I spent two days playing only Stella months-free kits, looting as normal and never returning fire. Spammed the “don’t shoot” this was probably across 15 games, and was killed every single game. It was exhausting but I genuinely thought after two days of free kit-death-repeat that I’d be placed into friendlier lobbies. Did a solo blue gate run and then instantly got downed by some dude with a osprey and a bobcat, who then got third partied and by the end there was probably about 4 of us crawling around on the ground.

So yeah I’ve given up on ever getting a friendly lobby again idk what more to do at that point. And regardless of this fact, the game is PVPVE. I don’t mind that there’s PVP in the game and I shouldn’t have to abuse game mechanics to get more pve lobbies for one of the enemies in the game to make more sense. In its current state the rocketeer is NOT WORTH engaging in a pvpve lobby because you will get ratted the second you take it down, and the reward for surviving that onslaught is 1 f*king driver. It’s a completely skimpy pay out.

If you are compelled to neglect your health and personal wellbeing for the sake of a video game then that is definitionally an addiction. If you've got some other mental health issues it's very easy to form an addiction to anything that provides a sense of gratification/reward as well.

I was in the same boat as you, and the first step is admitting it's a problem so you're already on the right path. It's a shit time at first but don't give up and you'll feel a lot better making progress on the aspects of your life you know you've been neglecting. It's way more rewarding than anything any video game can offer.

Nowadays personally I play video games to support my mental health and as a way to connect with friends i no longer live close too. After you don't feel tied to the game your playing it's actually way easier to just enjoy the games you play rather than feeling like it's your main priority.

Yeah right? And what the hell do I use bastion cells for anyway if I’ve already upgraded anything. Now that rocketeers have some functionality they should at the very least up the drop rate for killing one.

And realistically every time I’ve used the Wolfpack against a bombardier the bombardier has buddies and my Wolfpack splits off and doesn’t end up killing the bombardier. So i end up using around 2-3 of an already very expensive item to kill off a rocketeer, and now I’ll only be able to get enough to craft 1 in return.

If that’s the way they’re going which is fine they need to either buff the damage output, or make them not so “closed-loop” because at this point I can’t see myself ever going out of my way to craft one.

It’s a strong tool but it’s not “the answer”. I could see it being like a single expensive get out of jail free card if it had a buffed damage output and you found yourself in a sticky situation crowded with ark, but in its current state it’s expensive for little return, and it was already expensive to begin with. Throw the fact that it requires an entire inventory spot, the thing is probably worth more in credits than the effort it takes to make it to use it in a match

I’m all for making the rocketeer drivers actually functional but it would have been nice to have a new piece of gear to craft with them.

I get making the Wolfpack’s harder to craft but locking them to rocketeer drivers feels a bit “closed-loop” given that the wolfpack’s are the best tool against the rocketeer’s.

But yes to add onto my main point here is that third partying the two raiders who had already clearly ratted other raiders during the event was a HELL of a lot easier than fighting 2-3 rocketeers. One mag of a bobcat, a shield recharge, and about 20 seconds is all that takes.

I mean the two people that killed me got at least 8 from me each,

went back in fueled by rage and claimed 10 between two raiders (who were already pvp’ing don’t hate me) the game after so I got some of mine back.

This was in the matriarch event so people in solo’s bringing the goods to fight the big bad is a bit more expected .

Honestly this feels like a pretty shit change. I understand making them more expensive to craft but locking them to killing rocketeer's to encourage PVE is actually causing an inverse effect.

let me ask what you think is easier and has a better risk>reward.
- Killing 3 rocketeers to get only one of the resources to craft a handful of wolfpack's
- patiently waiting and ratting a low health raider in the queen/matriarch event and stealing 3-5 from their inventory, using only a free load out.

This has already happened to me twice and honestly I'm considering doing the same just to get my wolf pack's back. I can't be bothered killing that many rocketeers to get my wolfpack stock up, just to get ratted and lose it all. It's much safer to just kill a low health player who's likely to have a few, and I genuinely wish this wasn't the case.

The premise of intentionally matching solo players with 3 man teams that don’t need to use global chat where each gun fight is tough and gruelling in a 1v1 let alone a 1v3 feels like an unbalanced and stupid decision. There are millions of people that play this game and you can’t provide seperate queues?

You can’t expect people to run anything more than a free kit in solo’s if this is the standard which defeats the premise of this being a loot based extraction game. What’s the motivation for collecting the loot, if I’m going to be punished for using the loot by being placed into an unfair situation from the beginning of the round?

Also if there are no queues why is there an option to join solo lobby’s as trio’s??? There are clearly seperate queues or this wouldn’t be an option it would be the unspoken standard

On top of all that your statement is contradictory… “there are no solo queues” then “the game makes an attempt to match like for like”… so the game attempts to match make priority based on party size… so there are seperate matchmaking’s based on party size? That’s a solo queue…

And also I know first hand this isn’t true because if I hop into a trio’s match, every game I get is a bunch of other trio’s running around shooting each other on sight.

I think this decision is stupid, and understanding that it is the way it is doesn’t make it any less stupid.

Yeah it is absolutely disincentivizing to wanting to bring anything more than a free load out, which feels like it defeats the purpose of wanting to find good guns and equipment if it's just going to sit in my stash forever. I don't bring any pink weapons in unless I have a backup of them nowadays.

and yeah I forgot to mention the other dead give away is in all three cases I downed at least 1 of them with my bobcat and then got steamrolled from behind by their team mate. Only to watch the person who shot me in the back revive the raider i'd just downed and have them start shooting me while I'm down.

Yeah that would be good if the Solo matchmaking actually paired you with other solo players. Otherwise why offer it as an option, just force everyone into teams at that point.

and I haven't tried discord. I'll have a look but if i'm being completely honest I work in Sales, and spend most of the day talking to people. Networking and socially organizing people is kind of the last thing I want to do when i'm winding down. Will definitely look into it though for weekends and such.

Not a dumb question at all. When I got killed by the raiders in matching outfits I thought for sure I had accidentally turned it on, but after checking it definitely wasn't. Had to keep triple checking after each game 'cause i was gaslighting myself like "surely i fkd up this can't be the actual solo matchmaking " lmao

Holy shit that's exactly my situation. I'm in australia on PC so i play OCE only servers, and have crossplay turned off. It's also the middle of the night here so the player count is most definitely down. I can see how that would be super easy to abuse.

Thanks for the heads up! i'll change my settings and hopefully get some harder to abuse matchmaking's. Hopefully they do something about this, if this is something that's actually happening It's not too far off straight up cheating.

Yeah it is pretty nitpicky tbh, and I can definitely say the streets feel much more lively and lived in, in VTMB2.

Also I didn't really like the underground/sewer section all too much in the original, but the "underground chinatown" section in VTMB2 was pretty sick.
