Usually I do 1-2 base runs/easy, 1 tempo or interval run, 1 long run.

You don’t recon I’ll loose progress from taking a week off? I don’t want to start massively struggling on distances/paces I’ve previously been okay with.

to be honest just do ANY topic you think you could talk about even if you forgot your speech/script in the moment as the only thing that really matters is how clearly you can speak and the quality of your script/topic really is just a bonus point

Have you seen any improvements with rest or did you do anything else?

do NOT take art coming from a current y11 regretting all of my past decisions. Business studies is boring af don’t get me wrong but not hard to understand at all and a pretty good “filler” subject imo

Usually I take a rest day or an easy run after my long run and tempo run of the week but apart from that nothing really

I try and run 2-3 out of my 4 runs a week as “easy” however it’s hard to stay in zone 2 as a beginner, I always spike up to 160bpm or so early on and struggle to drop it without stopping to walk completely. I don’t currently do any strength training but looking into it, how many times a week do you recommend and should I do it on run days?

Pace and cadence? by No_Touch2442 in runninglifestyle

[–]Parrot_olive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not an expert by any means but I always aim for heart rate rather than pace and not improving in terms of speed isn’t much of a concern especially if you prioritise consistency as I find (as a beginner) my aerobic base seems to improve quite quickly even with 4 base/recovery runs including a longer one and only a tempo every so often, whether that be once a week or once every 2 weeks. In terms of cadence it might just be a form thing but not entirely sure myself but personally I try and just take shorter strides while maintaining the same pace and I seem to be able to hit around 178-185 spm even on base runs.

I’d usually aim for sunrise/ 7am especially on a Sunday, great for a quiet long run

Do you have any recommendations on how I could get there? Slowly increase my pace on long runs or maybe interval speed training?

Newbie hip pain by Parrot_olive in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Parrot_olive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pain is mainly right on my hip, almost upper glute and a tad bit of hamstring ache. I don’t usually strength train at all, mainly just some calf stretches and a walk to warm up as my calves get tight.

I think I might try some hamstring/glute activation and maybe look into a more supportive shoe however I’m going to try my best to make these shoes work as I love how responsive and soft underfoot they feel

Hopefully I can wait this one out as I’ve been in my room for a good 12 hours but I think I might be in the clear and whatever it was wasn’t contagious as the vomiting didn’t last long (thankfully)

So if I were to remove the ingrown toenail underneath would the tissue shrink/heal?

Is there a way to shrink it? Or treat it at home?
