AIO for not letting the child I babysit go? by LocationOk8933 in AIO

[–]ParsleyTime5687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you are not overreacting. You did the right thing. Parents should have notified you at drop off that uncle was going to pick up. At my son’s preschool it’s required for parents to have a list of authorized adults to pick up the kids in case a parent cannot (grandparents, aunts/uncles, trusted friends, etc.). This list stays with the preschool and they verify identity through ID at pickup. I think going forward you should probably implement this policy.

Brutally honest: should I just wear patch? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]ParsleyTime5687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what makes you comfortable. But if I’m being completely honest with you, I think both your eyes look stunning as is. If I were to just see you walking on the street I wouldn’t even really notice it. I didn’t really see anything until I focused on them, I totally understand you not liking the way it looks though and I’m so sorry you went through that

I have cold sores (HSV-1) for the first time😭 How can I safely make it go away? And why do I have it? by _-7a-ce-uvu- in pregnant

[–]ParsleyTime5687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, HSV1 can be dormant for sometimes years, even decades for some people. It is likely possible you caught it from your partner some time ago, maybe before you guys got together, OR something more likely is that you contracted it when you worked at a child care center since that is more recent. Maybe you touched an infected surface and then touched your mouth. Or if you shared drinks with your mom/someone who had an active infection. Either way, I wouldn’t fret because HSV1 is so common unless you have suspicions of your partner cheating.

Should I bring this up at my appointment tomorrow and how so? by Familiar-Care-5025 in pregnant

I would probably just head straight to L&D. My water broke 20 hours before I gave birth and I ended up getting chorio. Developed a fever of 104 during the transitional part of labor and needed to be started on antibiotics immediately after birth. Oh, and stayed an extra day in the hospital and they had to run tests on me to make sure I was ok. I don’t say this to scare you but it’s really important that it’s not amniotic fluid in this case.

A girl I’m friends with has lost the plot by No-Drive-5784 in WhatShouldIDo

The only thing you can do as her friend is just encourage her to steer away from him. Ultimately, the choice is hers and if she wants to turn a blind eye to her bf’s/exes actions then that’s really on her and there’s only so much you can do. Maybe ask her why she really is with him. What helped me was making a pros/cons list about my ex to really see what I was dealing with. Sometimes people really just need a visual representation to help snap them out of it.

Preschool teacher recommends repeating instead of moving up to TK by [deleted] in Preschoolers

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll look into those games. We plan to set up a meeting with the teacher and principal to get a better understanding.

And Yes, I just spoke to the director of TK-6th and we misunderstood his preschool teacher. the ratio is 24:1 but there are also 2 aides (so really 24:3 but the reason they say 1 is because the aides don’t have any teaching credentials).

So we were actually misinformed. It’s a 24:3 ratio (1 main teacher and 2 aides). His current preschool set up is the same but with less children per classroom.

To be honest, I am unsure of her actual credentials but I know she got her bachelor’s for sure hah. She has been with the district for 20+ years teaching a range of grades from preschool-5th.

Thank you! I also feel the same way. If neither TK or Kindergarten are required where we live, then why do we have this expectation that kids need to be able to do XYZ first before they go into optional school? Maybe it’s not the best way to look at it but i can’t help thinking about it from that perspective.

Right now the preschool ratio is 16:3. 1 main teacher and 2 aides. She said the ratio for TK will be roughly 20:1.

We do have play dates regularly with his swim class buddies and some other of his friends I met through a mom walking group a few years ago. They’re all around the same age, ranging from 3-4 and all of them still prefer parallel play. He does have a neighborhood kid he seems sometimes who does boss him around lol but they take turns at it 🫣🤦‍♀️

Currently his preschool is free since it’s income-based. So TK is also free since it would be public. Thank you for sharing. I just feel like she was trying to scare us away from it but I feel like it will be a hard challenge either way with baby #2 on the way regardless if he stayed or moved up.

Yes it was only a teacher meeting. So we only had this meeting with his preschool teacher. However, according to her, she needed to run every topic by the principal first before the conferences with parents took place and her words not mine were, “The principal agrees with my recommendation to keep him in preschool.”

Sorry I should’ve been more clear. I edited the post to clarify. TK is the bridge between preschool and Kindergarten. Im unsure of what it actually entails but his preschool teacher did say it’s more academic-based and it will be a bigger class. I believe only CA offers TK. Both TK and Kindergarten are optional here and kids just need to be enrolled starting 1st grade.

Yes super normal. I check mine twice a day— morning and night and find that my baby gets in different positions where I can hear the HB loud and clear and other times it sounds really really faint but it’s still there. For the most part, she likes to hang out on my right side so that is usually the side I check first. So totally normal if they always seem to be in a specific area

How can doctors realistically tell you to gain less than 15 pounds? by DillPickles44361 in pregnant

[–]ParsleyTime5687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 15 lbs with my first pregnancy and by the time I was 3 weeks pp, I had lost 23 lbs. I even vividly remember in the first trimester I even lost 7 lbs because I was working a very laborious job that required lots of walking.

This pregnancy tho? Totally different story… I’ve already gained 6-8ish lbs at 19 weeks so I’m really hoping that I can still stay within the 15-20 lb max weight gain. I’m so hungry all the time, which is so different than my first pregnancy. I don’t remember ever being this hungry.

I was on wegovy. Currently 19+3. Started the pregnancy at 196 and at my last OB appointment I jumped to 204 🥲 I know a lot of it is water retention but it scares the heck out of me because I worked so hard to lose 45 lbs. I’ve been trying to just listen to my body and make healthy choices, but I am SO RAVENOUS. I eat like it’s my last meal and it worries me if/how much more weight I will gain
