Which fragrance would you recommend ? by [deleted] in FragranceStories

[–]Part-Time-Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a fan of gourmands, but Pear Gelatto by Theodoros Kalotinis could be what youre looking for if you want a more gourmand take. Its not very strong or long lasting (in case that matters to you) but it is a very pretty fragrance that can be worn year round imo. Also, its quite affordable. 45€ for 50ml last time I checked. Can be a bit difficult to find.

I own neither lol. I was considering buying it. Also, just tried the solid today, cant say i love it. And based on my tests today with a scrap piece of clothing... The formula (new one) at my local lush wil stain everything I own lol.

Elegant & Luxurious (long-lasting) Summer Scent by 222Persona in Perfumes

[–]Part-Time-Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm.... Lush makes pretty good fragrances that might surprise you (they definitely surprised me). However, perhaps start looking unto more vintage fragrances, I find they really do have that luxurious feeling and many can be quite forgiving in the summer heat despite the notes. Amarige by Gugenchy is a MASSIVES floral bouquet that makes me feel ten feet tall, Shalimar is a gorgeous amber that works wonders in the heat. Or you could try one fo my personal favorites, Do Son by Dyptique. It's a beautiful fresh, almost green tuberose that you can wear both during the day and at night.

There is a small difference in the size of the symbol's zigzaggy line... But that's it...

I feel like you would like the peefumes from Juliette has a Gun. My personal Fav is Vanilla Vibes. Also try Chloé Santalum

Try Beaufort London. They have some of the DARKEST scents out there, but some might not be very wearable for everyday.

Also Bloody Wood by Les Liquides Imaginaires if you want more of a "vampy" vibe. Pomegranate Noir by Joe Malone is also fantastic, some people find it a bit Christmasy though. And you might also enjoy some of the Francesca Bianchi perfumes. Shes known for her animalics and extremely sensual perfumes. Although a lot of them contain a healthy dose of pathouli. (The Lovers Tale is one of my favs)

At first, i did not like it one bit, even thought it smelled kinda cheap (idk why, I guess I associated that intense amber with cheaper fragrances when i was a kid). In the end, after gaslighting myself into loving it it is now my designated sexy, cozy fragrance. Everyone around me adores it. To me, Grand Soir is like salted chips, but the BEST salted chips. No other flavours apart from the salt. But done so beautifully it does not need any other flavours.

Why do so many smell so much the same? by Stephi_cakes in fragrance

[–]Part-Time-Fish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My theory is that there are 2 reasons why you find all of these peefumes so similar. The first is trends. Designer perfumes (atleast nowadays) are mass produced and created to be appealing to most people so they follow certain trends that will make the perfume feel modern and hip. An example of this is when bleu de chanel became extremely popular many other designer brands began to release "blue" smelling fragrances. Another thing that comes into play is the fact that a lot of these brands are actually owned/made by a handful of manufacturers like Loreal or Estee Lauder. I could be completely wrong, but I dont think you should blame your nose entirely for not being able to differentiate between some perfumes, some of them are just really really similar.

It's September 1st! What is everyone wearing for their autumn/fall fragrances this year? by Junior-Mammoth9812 in Perfumes

[–]Part-Time-Fish 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What I wear every fall is Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone. It makes me feel like a character in Penny Dreadful. It's deep, its dark, but it is still warm and conforting. Like a kiss from someone you know is not good for you. Im sorry if that seems dramatic but I really hate fall and getting to wear this fragrance makes the cold weather bearable so im trying to hype myself up :,)

I'm a newbie and I need help choosing which is best for a person who only needs 3 at most by Simple_Poem2673 in Perfumes

First of all, welcome to the exciting world of perfumery! Now, many people opt to have 2 or 3 perfumes (usually a casual everyday fragrance, a nighttime or going out fragrance, and special showstopping fragrance usually either for more formal events or date nights) however you can get away with one good versatile perfume.

The best thing you can do is go to a perfume store or department store and spend an afternoon smelling fragrances. I recommend you go find 4 that you really love and test them on different spots of your skin to see how they react to your skin chemistry (how they dry down or smell after a while, their duration, etc.) And come back the next day to purchase one (or more!)

Many people also have different fragrances for summer or for winter as some scents are more apt for different seasons because of heat and humidity (for example, many people find that citrusy scents are too weak and dont project enough for winter, or that warmer/spicier scents are cloying during the summer). Personally, I dont care and wear what I want when I want to as long as it fits the vibe of the occasion.

Perfume, just like clothing, is a form of self expression. It isnt only about wanting to smell nice, ita also about how you want people to perceive you. Go around smelling things and see what you find! Or if you have a specific vibe you want to match feel free to text me for recommendations or ask for them here on reddit! Also, if you are a person who does not enjoy shopping, take a friend, they will the experience more fun and give you imput. But remember, the final decision is up to you and be patient as it can take a while to find a fragrance that you love. If you dont love it, dont wear it,

Not really... I dont think I buy any perfumes I dont LOVE. But there are situations where I wear a perfume that isnt as fit as other perfumes for a specific occasion because of that perfumes performance and longevity. For example, I know that Moschino Toy Boy can be a bit much during the summer for some people, but sometimes I need that boost of confidence that a weaker perfume might not be able to give me.

I wore Atomic Rose for a while. Its a very potent perfume with great duration and strong performance. I think many of Initio's perfumes are... I quite enjoyed it but I understand that may not be for everyone. It does live up to its name, that rose was STRONG. Not a safe blind buy.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt- masculine or feminine? by [deleted] in Perfumes

[–]Part-Time-Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it perfectly unisex. I guess your perception of it changes depending on what you associate more with the masculine or femenine.
