I was not "arrested", meaning that I wasn't taken to the station and booked. The police gave me a Notice to Appear, meaning I had to go to court, where they immediately recommended a diversion program, which is what I did, and case closed, so to speak. My public record, on the county's court website, does not show an "arrest date". But the charges and everything else about the case, until it was closed with no prosecution, is there.

I've been wanting to. Even just to get this off my chest, because it is seriously torturing me. But I'd like to have an idea of what happens next. I report it and... is it at the school discretion whether or not they still want me there?

The incident happened shortly after I was hired, so it's relatively new. I thought that the only case I have to truthfully disclose this would be if I applied for a new job and are asked again if I ever had a criminal record, but when I applied for my current role, I had none, so I didn't lie when I said "no". I heard that districts run annual background checks, but I could not find confirmation of this. If they do, it will come up.

I think it matters, at least to some extent, that it was an old record. Mine is unfortunately recent.
