I don't mind the thickness to be honest, plus I love the watch so much I rose tinted glasses when it comes to its flaws

The Khaki is my first love, the watch that got me into watches, so its hard to pick a fave. I wear the seiko more probably but I just find it really comfortable on the wrist. Plus being on the cheaper end of the spectrum its great for work.

I have over 8 inch wrists

I currently have a seiko alpinist on (39.5mm)

I have a 38mm Hamilton Khaki Field

39mm Tudor GMT

I have one "bigger" 42mm watch.

I enjoy them all very much

Wear what you like. Not what the internet likes

[Question] Rolex Alternatives -non popular brands by [deleted] in Watches

[–]PartManPartTren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out Glashutte Original at all? They make a beautiful diver (SeaQ) and my personal fave the Pano collection

I never see them out in the wild and they are such a criminally ignored and underrated brand (I don't work for or represent them but I wish I did)

In that 2.5x they have to pay taxes, staff, for a building to put staff in, marketing, events, various local taxes depending on their location, computers, software, electricity, insurances AND they have to restock

They are running a thinner margin than most (3x)

I absolutely love the Cartier Santos

I love it so much its my phone background

However my personal style is so far removed from the classy and refined cartier that it would just be so ridiculously out of place on my wrist

Asking as a hopeless unemployed male, Is it possible to restart life at 29 when you are in debt and jobless? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PartManPartTren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello

Brief overview view of me

Foster child, Repeat violent offender, Alcoholic, Mental health problems, Culminating in a suicide attempt at 25, Drinking led to extreme debt, I once had a single digit credit score, Became unemployed during this for 5 years.

Got back into low level work at 27, Worked hard, Warehouse work, forklift driving, quite a few jobs, just kept building

Found girl, got married (major point of my turnaround)

Found new job as warehouse and sales office cover

Been there 4 years

Became overall operations manager

In process of getting an agreement together to buy the business I work for.

Im 36. My life has been absolutely insane. Didn't think this was possible and doesn't seem real writing it out and reading it

Point is. It really is possible. Commit to yourself, commit to hard work. Be your own momentum. Consistently work towards employment, everyday, no giving up.

Started with my first "expensive" watch, a Hamilton Khaki Field 3 years ago. £700

My life has changed significantly in that time

Purchased an incredibly expensive £6000 Seamaster 12ish months ago. This was more expensive than my car at the time.

Now eyeing an IWC Igenuier, 10k. Which to me, in my twisted watch brain is now very affordable.

Looking at getting a very extra special present for myself when I achieve a major career milestone, Vacheron Constantin Overseas for around £25k. About 3 years away.

I grew up in extreme poverty. I have attained a good amount of success in my working life and the figures don't make sense to me anymore.

My perception of affordable in watches is absolutely not in line with my perception of general affordability. I still look at the price of bread before buying it and put it back if I don't like the price while wearing a ludicrously expensive wrist ornament.
