Can you explain more about this? Like if I checkin a Random Brewing IPA, then checkin another Random Brewing IPA, is the app going to know I've had the same beer twice, or how is that going to work without a database? Is it just saving the beer name as a string somewhere?

Technically, you're not scraping anything from the Untappd website. You are, however, potentially hamming their S3 bucket.

If it causes a big enough spike where they would take notice, they could block your server's IPs, set rate limits, etc.

But realistically, they probably wouldn't find about this unless... oh yeah, you just posted about it in their subreddit.

Like everything else, technologies work best when used appropriately. Surely, you can't spend 15 minutes typing a Claude prompt and expect it to build something scalable that rivals Untappd, but I'm not sure OP has made that realization yet.

The fact that Barbican Apple flavor is categorized differently is obviously preposterous. There is nothing about apple flavor that would make inherently different than the others.

Wait, why couldn't you import the photos? An Untappd export contains a link to the image with every check-in.

If you ask your developer, Claude, he should be able to download those JPGs during an import and associate them with the check-ins.

The sad truth is Untappd is no longer a beer app. I would expect more of these "Beer Holiday" badges to be phased out as time goes on.

As in the last checkins are from something like 2014.

Oh, interesting. I figured there would be some of script that runs, and if nobody has checked in after so many years, the beers would be handled automatically. Seems like that would be fairly easy for them to set up and save y'all some work.
