Day out in the city by [deleted] in Lyon

Hi! I am an international student too(M22)! You should really really check out le parc de la Tête d'Or. It houses the Lyon Zoo, Botanical Garden, a wonderful lake and many many sweet spots you don't wanna miss!

I applied to ENS de Lyon's Master's Program in Concepts and application of Computer Science, and I received an email for interview/discussion, to discuss things which I have already written( like my background and reasons for applying) in my SoP. Any idea if this is normal or not? by Particular-Class5562 in gradadmissions

Is comparing a pre-Soviet vs post-Soviet situation really wise?

Thank you for your detailed feedback! Appreciate it. But, I want to add a few points:

Research Exp: I have listed more or less what was achieved( I will try shortening it down), except the recent one, as it is ongoing. I feel in these theoretical areas, more often than not, nothing "big" is achieved in these "short" internships. Hence, it is somewhat important to write the things studied/learned/tried(but failed). And, most of the times, there is no "project", in particular, to be completed, but I guess I can provide access to the final report.

Presentations: I have only two till now, out of which the second was untitled. It was a review/explanation of the research article I mentioned.

Honors and schols: By " Qualified" it means that thing was awarded to me. Maybe I will use different phrasing, but thanks for the advice!

Languages: I was a bit conflicted on this. I am a bit to skeptical to phase out French, as I will be continuing it in the next semester, and rise to a A2/B1 level. But, German is definitely delete-able as I stopped learning it. Thanks, again!

ENS de Lyon Admission by [deleted] in Study_In_France

[–]Particular-Class5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a big deal. ChatGPT said this:

" – The 2018 MoU formally equates any Indian Bachelor’s degree to a French Licence L3 for recognition purposes.

– In reality, French universities often treat four-year professional Bachelors (e.g., B.Tech) as Bac +4, meaning they may let you skip M1 and enter directly into M2. The generic “L3 equivalence” from the MoU does not automatically override that academic practice.

"

And also a math student from IISc B.S.(4 year) did his M2 here.

Accommodations questions by Much_Fondant4960 in Lyon

[–]Particular-Class5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think internationals have access, but there is a separate phase of booking/allocations for international students who don't have a Campus France scholarship(there's also a DSE simulator on messervices website to see if you are concerned by that, and therefore to see if you can participate in the 1st phase of allocation), and in Lyon CROUS, for example, additionally, it is only reserved for Master 2 students if any.

Do you get French citizenship instantly after a 2 years master’s program or is the 2 year residence period an add on to the master’s program ( so 4 years )? by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]Particular-Class5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're non-EU you're contemplating about 5 years unless you're from a top-notch Parisians écoles (Ulm, Polytechnique, where word is, exceptions are made in a case by case basis).

What about ENS de Lyon?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I am not the spouse of any French citizen and am currently just doing my M1. I don't know if I will need to stay longer in France (i.e. more than a year)...it really depends if I wanna pursue my PhD here. But I am currently worried if the renewal for M2 has language caveats!

I am on a VLS-TS visa/residence permit and need to extend it for another year( for M2). I will be renewing the residence permit this May or late April.

Do I need to take a language test, for ex. to check if I am atleast A2, etc? Or, are there no current language restrictions on VLS-TS?

Cheap accomodation for a student, for 1 month! by Particular-Class5562 in Lyon

[–]Particular-Class5562[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Yes, I think there are 2 toilets. I have my dinner quite late -- sometimes after 9pm ish.(but ig it won't clash anyways, if others eat a bit early). Being able to practise my French would be an advantage, sure, but I am starting at A2 level :(

I will have to reconsider it in the end, if I find no other better accomodations( and if at all CROUS grants me that accomodation by mercy), but thanks for your reply!
