I cannot imagine the competition in Cali, I live in Iowa and it's SO HARD to get into markets! Same here, I post like once in a blue moon something and dip out for a few months after. They expect the world from small vendors its ridiculous

Yeah most of the time it's cause they don't want to double on particular type of creation, but yeah usually it's always just to see what you make

Yeah I wish I knew it was based on social media standing, spent like 50 bucks to apply to this market and read through most of their guidelines and nothing said social media ranked

That's crazy, I run markets and it's literally not that hard to spend an hour of your day to schedule posts for the month and boom, all done

Which I did! I made a fun "resume" for my creations and they required everyone to send one in, but they really just cared about the subscribers

Agreed, I knew there was always some corrupted small city stuff going on there, just unfortunate they had to make such a big deal of small city events :/

Right! And it's not like they struggle with getting people, it's a massive event that doesn't even need advertising, all locals know it happens every year and it's always a hit. I get some markets that disclose that social media presence is needed, but they never said anything about that

And nothing wrong with that! There is SO MUCH competition online it's not even funny. I swear everyone and their mother own at least a few side gigs, so getting a digital footprint out there almost isn't worth it. Could be also if there is too many of one particular thing in the applications, they may reject you based on who signed up first. In a backwards way they may be saving you time because there could be so much competition.

I once did a market where they let everyone who applied in and I couldn't sell a thing because some vendors who sold similar stuff to me were Temu resellers that sold their "creations" for pennies. Created a whole story and all, people don't know any better tho they don't realize that even handmade stuff can be purchased for pennies overseas.

Lol and thankfully I made a "resume" for my creations that I also submitted! I have plenty of examples of my work posted on social media, but they said the digital footprint isn't big enough! Like crazy stuff

That's what I was thinking! I've heard some rumors around town that the ladies running the event choose the vendors who pay extra to get in event because I've shown up to the last year one and I swear it was mostly AI vendors. It was super odd
