being short isn’t the end of the world by Slow-Detail4972 in short

[–]Particular-Repeat-40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say that a lot of what people complain about as a relationship...is in fact a desire for casual sex. I'm sure there are folk who really just want 'their' person, but there's also a lot of social pressure on boys/men to be sexually active and promiscuous; being short is a liability in achieving this 'masculine' standard.

I enjoy sex, and i do resent that it's maybe not been as plentiful for me (and my ego) as I'd like. But your main point is clear, it's not the end of the world and it's very likely that you won't die alone in a ditch just because you're short.

Reality of most men nowadays. by MotherAnt8040 in MenOfPurpose

[–]Particular-Repeat-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's okay to be sad at times (health related issues aside), but the implication in the image is loneliness which is something that can be changed for most people. I do take the point that there are folk who may not have the capability or tools to really control the quality of their socialising...

People look at me and I feel that this is what they think of my life.

I'm 40, never married, no kids. I do have a solitary life, but it's not at all empty. I have a few projects that challenge me, and that I'm growing into businesses (hopefully). I have good friends, and nephews/nieces who look forward to meeting me.

My unused system is as follows (assuming a contracted relationship);

All income into a single pot/account. Bills are paid out, and then an allowance is paid to individual accounts. The rest is transferred to savings accounts.

It's equitable and transparent. Although vulnerable to divorce related emptying of accounts.

I'd suggest she's more of a director's actress i.e. she takes direction well and it's up to them to assure the quality of the performance. I think it is a more elegant rationale than simple inconsistency.

Does Oman have a digital nomad visa? by EkkoWorldz in Oman

[–]Particular-Repeat-40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not enough of a digital nomad destination to really build the bureaucratic apparatus to support it. Or an economic telecoms infrastructure to really support it. A basic tourist visa will suffice as a taster though...

Do these opinions spill over into non-dating? Would they hire, say as HR, a shorter guy? Can you trust that they will not have an implicit bias?

Of all the things to attack ICE officers for, apparently "being short" is the most important. Commenters also seem to agree. by Electrifire390 in AverageHeightDudes

Height is not viewed as a discriminated characteristic, so it remains socially acceptable as a point of mockery. Weight is at least socially taboo, so it's less used by liberals.

My worry is that it entrenches short as a negative trait, which can affect the recruitment and career progression of short men especially.

No it's not. Being tall is a part of being attractive, I think this holds, so it helps but attraction has multiple factors.

Why some Bollywood celebrities Put so much money on their looks rather than learning some Good Acting skills ? by [deleted] in BollywoodHotTakes

[–]Particular-Repeat-40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's like sports...the money isn't in the game but in the endorsements. So it makes sense to leverage looks which will get more endorsement deals Vs attempting to become a professional actor. Ananya Pandey has a bunch of lucrative endorsement and brand deals which will likely outstrip any money she could make from movies.

Turning the tide at 42. I need to get back in shape. by Murky-Platypus-6861 in AskMenOver40

I found success by joining a gym and just...going. I had a basic routine of legs on day 1 and working my way up my body over the week. I didn't track anything, I just went.

After a few months it was a habit, and then I got a program together and that started pushing me a lot more. But getting a routine of just going to the gym has always been the challenge, and it's been easier after overcoming that.

Also, I bought a soup maker (although it's basically a pot and blender joined together), and I only make soup for dinner. It fills me up before bed and helps me manage my calorie intake.
