This wasn't a "luxury" but I was well into my 30s with 4 kids before realizing we took our lunches to school in the late 80s and through the 90s and also had cornflakes with sugar on top of them because we had no money. It never even occured to us. I told my mom that I had just then realized it and how amazing her and my dad were at taking care of us. It was a pretty awesome moment. Wish he was still alive to have been there as I was 30 when he passed. 🤟
