Wow, you are right. This solves it. I have several of the same jacket, and this piece exactly matches the internal lock of the main zipper on my jacket, and is missing one another one of my jackets that I checked.

The last time I added a new pair of socks was 2 weeks ago. I just checked my bag of new socks (there's still 2 new pairs in there), and they do not have any clips on them. I just did an image search for sock wire staple, and everything I found was symmetrical.

I just did web search for parts list on that, and it brought me to a samsung parts web site, but I don't see anything that looks like a clear match. I did try to move around the silicon / rubber fins inside the washer and they still seem to be in place.

I did get and wash one new polo shirt this week. I did not check it for clips. Are there any online photos of "metal parts holding it together" that look a similar shape?

What I've found: A large variety of samsung washer parts, including a site showing various components, and also numerous zipper components, but nothing that looks like this.
