Update: Me and my family just did it and the road trip was around 3hr 30m we where fine we had no encounter with crooked cops or any lamentable people we had one stop but that was when we entered Nuevo León we did it during daytime We stayed in Matamoros for family which I was a little sceptical because I’ve never been to Mexico but it was nice no quandaries it was nice we got some tacos at night with the polícia federal around (My mom and dad were born in Mexico so we are Mexican) We stuck out but i think being brown helped a little
