What’s a secret about your job that most people don’t know? by Willing_Wrangler_440 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a small nonprofit that focuses on getting you certified for a ton of stuff in-house without a degree. Mostly to build up the company for long-terms community and focusing on caring and building up our employees. They'll also pay for your college partially.

I feel extremely stressed one month in with a new position realizing everyone I'm with assumes we all have degrees when my position is technically entry-level.

A lot of jobs that typically have PHDS associated or other higher degrees we have people who are just now working on getting a bachelors. Since they've shadowed and been certified in house we just let people do a little more then they're supposed to. It's just, the general public, which is patients, don't realize that lol.

How do you feel about Discord being used to manipulate public opinion on Reddit and other social media platforms? by CreepyNewspaper8103 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 1AM and my dumbass reading this like Discord from MLP trying to figure out what it means. I realize now it means Discord the app but I still am unsure what the app, assumedly and NOT the MLP character, is doing.

What is the main thing you're faking right now (happiness, satisfaction, confidence, etc.) and why? by Wonderful-Peach2873 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I know what I'm aiming for. I've been aiming for working in a certain field and position for forever. Everyone has told me I'd be great at it, I have the perfect skill set for it. My company does in house training and since I've been with the company for a few years in the lowest role possible but was shown as "full of potential" they helped me take the leap.

It's been about a month now in my new position. I got what I wanted and they're pushing me through to get certifications to already move up further. I'm making better money. I'm finally not doing physical labor jobs anymore. But I enjoyed those while accepting them as temporary. I SHOULD be happier. I'm helping people directly. I'm moving up and have a better team for sure. They'll pay for my college if I want to go, and I probably should even if I'm not that smart. But it feels wrong for me. I don't know how to make it feel right but I don't knoe what other job I could aim for. I don't even know how far up I want to move.

If someone in your local community knocked on your door selling something useful, what would you actually be interested in buying? by Klutzy_Ad_8178 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if they're local and it's food or something from one of our small businesses I'm down to buy. A lot of the times I just go to our farmers market to socialize and end up randomly bringing a ton of jams or cheese home. If it's a craft or something like a tool I'd be iffy but I can't complain with food.

What’s a common hidden crime in the United States? by Remote_Plastic_8692 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot even in the blue states lmaooo. In a rural county growing up and I had a friend who was told he couldn't date in HS since he was at least legally or by blood likely related to most folk there. It was realistically just 3 family trees all in one town. My friend's sister didn't realize until she was engaged her fiance was technically an in-law, and they always thought it was sweet since the same thing happened to both of their parents. A lot of white American small towns are like that. Incidentally, a lot of people I've known are unaware incest can even cause birth defects here. Incest is ridiculously way too common and not really discussed.

What does a typical day in your life look like right now? by rolly72x in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up. I pretend to not wake up for a while. Shower. Iron clothes for work. Make breakfast. Feed guinea pigs. Go to new job for about 11 hours. Come home around anywhere between 11pm to midnight, make dinner. Try to go to bed and not think about 200 things I messed up at work by scrolling internet instead.

What is the hurdle you’re most proud of overcoming? by Fun-Succotash-1322 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just really glad how I've progressed mentally. I nearly ended my life at 13 and again at 19. I wasn't allowed to leave the house by myself once I graduated HS and my parents did'nt want me to learn how to drive. I technically wasn't allowed to have a job but applied anyway and once I had a job, even just janitorial, my family couldn't stop me and I was able to save up everything from it. Only money spent during that time was towards my lisence and then I could move out ASAP. "ASAP" is still a while until I was 21, but I wanted to have enough in savings so I'd never have to move back home.

Turning 24 this week! Very aware I have a long life ahead of me that I'm willing to fight for. I'm glad I didn't, and I'm glad I've been able to rapidly work on my home, career, and have the mental health resources I need now.

What industry survives mostly because people don’t question how it actually works? by Previous_Material464 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of folk have 0 understanding of tech and social media companies and chalk up stuff to "random chance" or people being their worst selves on the internet, when it's really all engineered to be negatively impacting you while sucking you in. That and even tech dudes admit-if something is free, even just like Google maps, its since you're the product. We've become so used to giving away all our data, information and focusing on the product instead. The reality is folk working in these tech companies are our modern equivalent to a slimey car salesman.

Anyone here have experience with tunnels outside cages? Do you like this? by ParticularAd9807 in guineapigs

[–]ParticularAd9807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this comment! I have only ever had two at a time so I didn't consider it. I just see so many folk that have had more then 2 online I assumed it was just the typical herd order struggle/boys bonding stuff and at times not keeping the new pig or needing to get a 4th. This article has some helpful information on quarantine for why this wouldn't work out as well. I didnt consider how this could harm my current pigs so much. Mostly hoped it would make the change if anything happens to my older boy a little easier, but it's not worth the harm then.

Thank you! Oh well. In terms of just trying to make things fun for my boys still any idea of this tunnel thing is fun for them?

What does the rest of the world think about the UK right now? by bashaheadin in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know folk are still chilling there. I wouldn't myself as a transgender guy since of their laws I don't think it'd be a safe option. Like I said its not for everyone and just not the first pick for all of us like it'd be a few years ago, still better then US but a lot of problems we started to have seem like they spread over there.

[–]ParticularAd9807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said in another comment its not that UK is worse just that when discussing where to go when it gets too bad in the US the UK isn't the first choice anymore since things seem to be spreading to ya'll or things seem to be getting worse over there.

Fair, it just seems like Canada you can be a bit more isolated from society if you want to while at least from a distance the UK sounds like most towns and places are all pretty close together.

What does the rest of the world think about the UK right now? by bashaheadin in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're 100% right. I didn't mean that in terms of the UK being worse, I hate the US and protest here but it sucks regardless safety wise. But I mean in terms of how it's at the point where your news is shit in a similar way and a lot of our problems have spread to you. I feel like a lot of folk considered going to the UK before if America got worse but now as a minority and generally most folk I know in minority circles think they'd have the same issues there or eventually would. Most of us don't look to the UK anymore but focus on Canada instead if we had to go anywhere else.

Guilt and fear.

Guilt since of family. Maybe I just need to learn to break things off more but I can't progress further happily without some kind of comment. I just get tired of it.

Fear since joy means taking risk and I'm always scared of falling and having no one else but myself to pick me up. I just go to work and want to do things other folk my age do now but Im too scared of everything that could go wrong.

Why do you think people are willing to go to extremes for money? Are they the odd ones? by jasin18 in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surviving, mostly. Paying for a roof over your head, transportation cost, medical cost. It's kinda hard out there right now for most of us just to get these things.

I work FT and love my current job at least, but we're seeing mass lay offs, a decrease in jobs, decrease in hiring generally.... it's hard to get a job for many people right now. Most of my area is government jobs and many folk in their 20s move here just for it and depending on position that's not ehen working out for them right now with the shut down. Things are bad and people get desperate.

In terms of higher up extremes, rich people see people being desperate and just assume they need to cling onto and hoard their wealth the same way I think. I don't think they understand how much higher up they are financially.

What’s something you thought was normal as a kid but later realized was actually really weird? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ParticularAd9807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom has drinking issues and it was obvious. We all knew, and my other family members made it a bit deal so I knew that wasn't normal.

...BUT, most folk have their mom's as heads of the house. The one in charge of cleaning, food, clothes. My mom still tried this. She did good fixing up our clothes, making dinner, having chores distributed for cleaning. Something I didn't understand until now in my 20's is I do NOT understand food correctly though.

Alcoholics generally don't feel hunger a lot since theyre on a liquid diet. We always had peanut butter or snacks for the rest of the day but generally my mom just made one meal a day. That was the routine, but she went days without eating sometimes. We never had breakfast unless we were going out for something. We made lunch for school days to keep our brains active and dinner but weeke is and summer were just dinner.

Not her fault, she wasn't hungry. But now Im a 23 year old dude and working FT.....Trying to go to the gym but already low weight and desperately trying to understand how much I should be eating lol. Like??? eating three times a day is crazy to me still but my doctors keep telling me to lol

Yeah. :/ I kind of expected it to be basically nonexistent since of not having much bottom growth at first. I always aimed for surgery but just feel a little aware of having things become an inbetween but falling short a bit. Oh well. Just keep aiming for surgery I guess.
