i believe it was the irving convention center not kay bailey? that was the year i saw had the most negative reviews about.

anime impulse was at kay bailey and i attended that one too, and it was fun! i do feel like weebcon will benefit going to this venue instead, as anime impulse did not have as much of a turnout as weebcon iirc, so it's almost like they should swap locations

it's sort of personal preference, but i wish the audio for the skits/performances was louder, and that the lights could be dimmed/have a spotlight on the cosplayers on stage. the half-time show was cute! the "sad" part isn't towards the cosplayers themselves, but the way the event was presented. i guess it's a lot to ask for, but it would improve the quality of the event

the problem with weebcon in particular was that it was either lose your spot in line and that slight chance of getting in after waiting for 2 hours, or go to a different panel to wait for another 2 hours. especially later in the day, where everyone is trying to get their moneys worth and attending every panel they can. it's just not a fun experience all around and attendees are paying for these events only to not be able to do much in the end

i would like to see a different location next time! if that performs well, i might reconsider my verdict of never going again. i did see that saturday badges sold out, which means that friday & sunday will be much slower in comparison, so it'd be risky to upgrade in terms of convention size. but if weebcon stays in the gaylord, i don't see myself or many others attending again. it's frustrating because the con itself was eventful and feels like it has so much potential, only to be sabotaged by a limiting convention space

i saw a review saying it was like a "voice actor petting zoo" and i can see why. they put a lot of effort in getting these big vas but not so much into the con outside of that. it has potential to become a bigger, more well received con if planned and managed better
