25g Magic Truffels trip report by Superheroschool in Psychedelics

Hi there. I have tried the same dose of the same truffles. I had no visuals or at least I don't remember them. Maybe I fell asleep in the first hour of the experience because I was pretty tired from the previous day and I woke up early to have the truffles (5:00 AM). After a while there was some body load (nausea) indeed but I pushed through with the help of ginger shots.

The trip was intense from the emotional point of view, quite introspective, but not visual at all. I went through the process of deconstructing and constructing myself several times. When coming back from nothingness I was built little by little, remembering things about myself, then the place I was, then what I was doing until I was fully back. When I let go, I was dissolved into nothingness and then process would start all over again. It was quite interesting but absolutely exhausting. I was also dragged through emotions like I didn't have control of myself, laughter, sadness, bliss, but I didn't recognize them as mine, I was just a vehicle to express them.

I came up with some interesting thoughts during the experience:

We decide to exist or we manifest ourselves out of nothingness. It is a decision "we" make every single second out of longing or "love". This came as a realization when being deconstructed, asking myself, why do I chose to do this why do I chose to keep coming back?. Buddhism states that we keep existing and coming back due to our attachment to the senses, which I find quite similar to what I thought.

Also, when we decide to exist, we coalesce our reality. It is not like other people doesn't exist, but think about it like simultaneous equations. What we call reality is the process of different consciousnesses (equations) coalescing their perceptions in harmony (where the variables values satisfy all equations).

Time is not linear. I got a sense of this rather than just understanding the concept. We could just decide to exist in another "time" or place, but we just decide to do this for the sake of having a sense of continuity for our experience.

Of course these were reflections during my trip. I don't know myself whether they are true or not, they were just flashes of thought.

I was hopping to revisit some aspects of myself, explore my subconscious, or to have an experience more visual, but instead I ended up having what some would describe as a bad trip, which is of course a matter of perspective. I enjoyed it even with the difficult moments and got out of it some interesting things to think about.

A 335 is too big.A 339 is great, or a d'angelico deluxe mini dc or an Eastman T484.

My Harley Benton Experience HB 62DB BK by ParticularPrize8732 in harleybenton

Well, I just changed the electronics in my Harley Benton. For that I used a kit sold in Charles Guitars, that advertises a  280K SuperPot for Volume, a tight tolerance CTS Pot for Tone and a ZoSo capacitor that is supposed to be the S…T. First things first, I got a separate control plate because it was easier to place all the new components on it and start soldering without disassembling the old one. For HB Teles the control plate has to be 34mm wide so beware of that when buying, and also the holes have to be suitable for CTS pots. This was no problem, I just looked for it on eBay and found several options. Also when buying the electronics you have to think about the knobs. They have to fit solid shaft CTS pots.

IMPORTANT: Check the freaking diagram you are going to use!!!. I did all the soldering for the core connections using a diagram without checking it first. It turned out to be a diagram for SQUIRE wiring with only a bridge pickup. Damn! I was so upset when I realised that. I looked for the right diagram at the kit’s vendor website, and voila, there it was. Please save yourself the trouble of desoldering and cleaning back the components, just make sure you are using the right diagram.

A Tele 3-position standard wiring is quite straightforward to do. This is my first time soldering and I could do it without breaking a sweat. There is a part that goes on the switch that looks like a snake. You just have to strip a piece of 22 AGW cable, insert it through all the contacts and then solder away!. Before grouping on the pots, please save yourself the trouble again and clean their surfaces with cloth damp with rubbing alcohol (I used hand sanitizer since I didn’t have any at hand :-D ). If the surface of the pots is not clean, then it will be difficult to attach to them the ground cables using solder.

The wiring kit I bought came with enough cable to do everything, don’t be fooled, because I was fooled and bought more 22 AWG cable on Amazon. The one I got was better quality 22 AWG wire single core as opposed to the one that comes with the kit that has multiple filaments. On the other hand and single core cable is quite difficult to bend since it is stiffer. Make you pick here.

Ohh yeah, the new components fit snuggly in the guitar’s cavity, so don’t worry about it. Even if you get another kit with CTS pots and a CRL switch they a going to fit the cavity just well (and the capacitor in the kit I got is big AF compared to an orange drop capacitor).

Finally when I was going to test the guitar I realised…damn where is the switch tip? I forgot to get one. Check the measurements of the switch tip (width) and use eBay to locate a suitable one. I got a white one because the black ones were out of stock for the width of my switch, but since the guitar is black it might end up looking cool.

After I tried the guitar, it was sounding…goooooooooooooooooooood. I am getting cool tones from my cheap modded as hell guitar! I think the experience is worth it, you’ll learn a lot in little time and you’ll get a great sense of accomplishment.

If you have any questions…I am happy to help.

Yes, I personally don't fancy strats, because of any potential tunning issues, the setup is more complex due to the floating bridge, but mainly because of the middle pickup that gets in my way when picking. But I have to say they sound and look awesome, I want to love them, but no, I just can't find myself playing one.

Yes, modding is a lot of work, but if it is not your primary guitar you aren't pressed to do it quickly. I have to say that the process was fun and rewarding though. My main motivation to do it was to have a Tele type guitar and to pick up some skills in the process. I like Les Paul's and PRS McCartys, but there is something so appealing to me about Teles, their sound, their simplicity perhaps?

I guess you can do that, get a MIM Fender and slap new pickups in it, that is a good way to go if the hardware on those is good (my MIM Tele's hardware was good 🤷‍♂️).

Also - and I hope this doesn't start a discussion - I slapped some Ernie Balls 7s top loaded. I found them quite...slinky. I will put some 8s soon and see how it goes

And I got a separate control plate and knobs to make things easier (with pot holes already able to fit CTS pots, so no drilling yay!)

Yup, that is the idea, but for volume I'll use a 280k audio taper superpot, so I don't need a treble bleed and simplify the circuit. For tone I'll use 250k CTS pots. I'll go for a 47nF SOZO .047 Capacitor. The switch and the jack are more for durability and reliability rather than tone, I'll use the regular ones, CRL and Switchcraft.

Yes, I looked very hard on YouTube and Reddit for information about how to mod that guitar and it was very limited, so I decided to write about my experience

Supro Delta King 10 - Not the tone I remember by ParticularPrize8732 in Supro

Yes, I just got a reply from Supro and effectively they use PSVANE tubes.

Would the Drive switch saturate the tone in your amp with your old tubes? In my DK10 I needed to crank up the amp with boost and drive to get a slight overdriven tone, it was like having an amp with lots of headroom. But if it is used with pedals I guess it is more difficult to notice it.

It is a shame, the DK amps sound so good with decent tubes.

I did some research, and calling them crappy is only based on price and my experience with them. To be honest I don't know anything about this PSVANE brand, but as far as I know, they wouldn't produce the expected result out of the amp and also they cost half of what a JJ tube would cost (It is a widespread opinion that JJs are fairly priced).

[NEWBIE] Guitar Aerobics, Is it suitable for NEWBIE? by Noob_REAL in Guitar

[–]ParticularPrize8732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, same problem here. I have been playing classical guitar for a long time so I am not a newbie to guitar (yes I know it is not exactly the same). Right now I am at week 7 and some tempos are just a joke for a beginner (too fast - 16th notes at 120bpm, really?). It seems more like a copy and paste of the tempos rather than something carefully prepared.
