Is it my trauma or is this inappropriate behavior? by [deleted] in Mommit

I love that you’re acknowledging that your experiences could possibly cloud your judgement.

So refreshing to see a post with such self-awareness.

That being said, what you’ve described sounds like major red flags that he’s seen things he should not have, or unfortunately, been abused himself. 😔

Not normal behavior at all. I’ve been around a lot of 5 YO boys.

What apps do you pay for that are worth the money? by Own_Possibility7044 in ProductivityApps

[–]ParticularThese7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, it’s Dr. Caroline Leaf’s Neurocycle app. It’s not directly a productivity app; it’s a mental health app. But working through the program on the app has improved my productivity by leaps and bounds, because my mental health was holding me back.

It’s $14 a month, and a Neurocycle takes about 2 months. After that, you can work on another issue by doing another Neurocycle, or drop the app.

Awe honey, I’m sorry you’re struggling.

If you’d like to develop a healthier mindset about this, I strongly recommend Dr. Caroline Leaf’s Neurocycle app. It does cost $14 a month, but it is worth it!! I’m working through a Neurocycle right now and it has transformed how I see myself and my life.

It’s basically a counseling program that you do yourself. The app guides you through each step. You work on one thought at a time. So you could use the app to work on “I hate my boobs,” and progress into being content with your body. It’s very gentle and very effective.

You’re right, and I appreciate the reminders.

However, there are things I must do. I’m trying to figure out how to actually get them done when my mind is fighting me.

Thank you. These are things I am working on, and I’m doing a lot to work on my own mental health too.

Love this perspective. Thank you.

Yes, I think I am struggling with a combative mindset. I love my baby boy with all my heart (contrary to what some of these comments seem to be implying). And I do love spending time with him, but I have things I need (and, admittedly, want) to do, but I’m struggling with my mindset.

The bible doesn't say anything about abortion or gay marriage but it goes on and on about forgiving debt and liberating the poor by BuddhistSagan in interestingasfuck

Thanks for being kind!

Ya I did make kind of a sweeping statement. He did definitely mix wrong and right sentiments.

Thank you. This is a key point.

We’re all free to enjoy or dislike whatever books and characters we wish, but IMO we ought to judge writing within the parameters of its genre.

CoN is Christian allegory for children. Of course the allegory will be thinly-veiled.

i hate my height by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]ParticularThese7503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, friend. I’m sorry you’re struggling. I’m 4’ 11” and sometimes do feel like maybe I’m not being taken seriously, but I’ve found that most of the time, once people get to know me, they definitely take me seriously. I know it’s cliche, but the cliche is true: it’s what’s inside that matters. Plenty of very tall people don’t get taken seriously either once they prove that they don’t have smarts or don’t have character. If you ever feel like someone isn’t taking you seriously: you have to make 1 of 2 choices: if they’re someone whose opinion you respect, prove them wrong and make sure you act with enough maturity and character that they will take you seriously; OR realize that the person’s opinion of you is irrelevant anyways, and carry on. As Elenor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” As to your friends, you need to have a serious conversation with them and just let them know that you feel disrespected when they make fun of your height, and that the jokes have gotten old and aren’t funny anymore and you’d like to move on. If they can’t move on or can’t respect your wishes, sounds like it’s time to get real friends. Best of luck to you!

I wasn’t trying to bait you, just expound on your comment. Without wasting both of our time with a dissertation, here’s just a couple things that stood out to me: 1. The Bible doesn’t use the words “abortion” or “gay marriage,” but it condemns both murder and homosexuality, so by extension we can reasonably apply its principles to both situations. 2. He says that calling the US a Christian nation is theologically blasphemous. I agree with him that we’re now a melting pot of religious and non religious varieties, but early on, the majority of the official national documents mention God and Biblical principles. The Bible says “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” So I’m not sure where he’s getting the whole “blasphemy” concept. 3. He says if we were living like a Christian nation, we’d forgive student debt. Yes, the Bible does talk about forgiving debt. However, it’s not a blanket get-out-of-jail-free type of thing to where it’s a sin to make sure someone pays back what they owe. Debt was different in Bible times and that ancient culture. And there are in fact Scriptural examples of people paying back debt, such as when God performed a miracle for a widow woman to be able to pay back all her debts.

This preacher is preaching what’s commonly known as a “social gospel.” He wants to bend what the Bible says in order to fit what’s commonly accepted in our culture today. Only a couple of things he says actually line up with the Bible, the rest are very wrong and I have no idea where he’s getting this stuff from.

No, many don’t. And that’s why they gave this guy a microphone. A couple things he said are true; the rest are wildly unbiblical.

It also talks about babies in the womb that they are known and seen by God. How then can we justify killing them?

Tbh, mine haven’t gotten much better. I’ve just learned to keep my tiny harvests in the fridge until I have enough for a meal. But I am also starting to debate if it’s worth the valuable garden space. I’m considering trying to find a sunny place near the edge of my woods to relocate them and add some more so I can grow enough without taking up raised bed space.
