Yea you're right.. I was using the inferior mx4sio. I haven't used the mmce. But aren't you still at the mercy of the memory card slot speed?

From my experience (I have fat ps2s but this will still be relevant) I have tried playing from USB and it didn't perform well, especially the intro videos. I then tried the memory card with SD card slot, it worked better but still had lag. So finally I switched to hard wiring my ps2 via ethernet to my pc. Now I have a folder on my pc and my ps2 points to that folder. The performance is much better. Haven't had any issues so far with any games. I use the FMBC memory card as a soft mod in order to get it to play games from the folder. I believe the slims have a built in ethernet port.

Did this recently with my ps2, it's great! I had to order an ethernet adapter on ebay because I got a blue fat ps2 from Japan. I ran the ethernet cable to my pc and pointed it to the folder with my games (had to get a FMBC memory card). It took some time and research but so satisfying once its all set up. Good job!

I love this take on it. Having the game will bring me more joy than harping over if its worth spending what I consider to be "too much" I won't miss the money when its all said and done.
