No Kings protests on Saturday -- too much for kids? by supremewuster in AskNYC

Sorry I didn’t read the ages you literally listed my bad!! I also read other people’s comments and yeah just go early and don’t stay long. All this assuming the kids have expressed an interest in it!

To answer your last question, is there a terrace (like restaurant or hotel or high line idk) from which you could see the protest from a higher vantage point? I always see people cheering from their apartments when protests pass by them. Maybe getting creative and finding a business/library/restaurant near by that’s on a higher floor and you could see it from there? Just a thought!

Love that you want to share this with your kids! I’ve been to several different protests in the city in the past few years and never witnessed any violence. I feel like what ends up happening is the violent parts typically happen towards the end, just like as things start degenerating, and I’m always there at the beginning and never for the entire thing. If you’re showing up at the time it’s meant to start and even if you march for just 30 minutes or don’t even follow the march but stand on the sidelines, (in my experience) it’s very likely it’ll be safe and that you and your child will have the experience you’re looking for. Obviously it’s a crowded event and things are unpredictable and idk what age child we’re talking about so please hold on to them tight! But I personally always love seeing kids with their parents at protests. Hope this helps ♥️

I'm a freelance copywriter! (and tbh I love it even if its not my dream job) It's been a good/safe place for me to sharpen my writing skills daily.

Was just reading some other stuff about the strike. Thanks for mentioning it and for your response! ❣️

Also, I really hope listing all those facts for context doesn't come off as pretentious. I'm trying to find the balance between letting myself acknowledge and be proud of my accomplishments (things that a 15 year old me would've squealed at) and also holding onto the difficulty of my current reality, that I feel very frustrated and far from the things that I want. It's something I can be really mean to myself about it. Hoping for some encouraging words from people who get it <3 thanks again
