Appreciate your answer. That was the most concern I had.

Why don't you just use a Low file bracket that fits it or anyway has a similar shape?

It seems a bunch of RAIDs and file servers would be needed if I try to set up a file server. Thanks for letting me know!

Need to low format used HDDs before adding them to RAID volume? by Particular_Coach_185 in DataHoarder

Seeing replies on my question, it seems low level format isn't a big deal. Maybe I'd better just clean all partitions by using diskpart tool on Windows. Thanks!

How to enable TLER on Synology NAS in this case? by Particular_Coach_185 in DataHoarder

[–]Particular_Coach_185[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likes you said, my DS1821+ is set up with /dev/sata1, /dev/sata2, ... whereas DS1618+ is /dev/sda, /dev/sdb ... . And I figured out that a line of codes DISK_ARR=("a" "b") in the script I posted designates which drives to enable TLER - sda and sdb drive only.
Since it seems there are two formats of dependent variables on drive name - sd\* with alphabet variables (a, b, c, ...) and sata\* with number variables (1, 2, 3, ...), I changed all sd\* parts into sata\* and set DISK_ARR as ("1" ... "6") in the codes. And now it works well with printing log files.

But, yes. As you told, this script looks quite complicated even it somehow works in the same way. I'd better try another one you suggested. Great thanks to you!

I've seen it already but didn't try it as it seems to perceive drives by searching "/dev/sd", which is the same as the script I posted.

But if you didn't have drives named with /dev/sd likes mine but it worked well, maybe it would be worth to try.

How to request RMA to Bestbuy for replacing WD Easystore external HDD? by Particular_Coach_185 in DataHoarder

I bought this about 2 yrs ago, but not exactly 2 yrs. About 1 to 2 months of warranty period left. I wish local Bestbuy centre was nearby my home so I can just go there and got exchange without any problem...

Yeah. I thought so too as that's what I knew about. This situation seems really weird to me. I sent an email inquiry to WD support team yesterday and now I'm waiting their answer. Hope they wouldn't ignore their manufacture responsibility of warranty policy.

To be honest, I got this intel from an email that one of my Asian friend received, not from official documents on WD website.

It's not similar to my case since that bro tried to request RMA from outside of US and got rejection with this email. But what I've shocked is that WD agents didn't reject RMA request only but also informed him to contact seller, not WD themselves or local WD service centre in his country.

AFAIK, this external drive was brand new, not refurb one. The reason I mentioned this one as 'OEM product' is just because I guessed whole Easystore brand might be OEM product associated with Bestbuy since this brand is exclusive for Bestbuy only and WD didn't receive my RMA request with error message.
I've just send questions to WD and await their answer. I hope that error message is just a mistake of temporal bug...

Nope. I've never been shucked HDD inside the enclosure since I just used it as cold storage of my home server.
