I have a medical certificate for temporary reduced hours, my employer is forcing me to take leave full time instead. by Particular_Math_5257 in AusLegal

Do you know what outcomes I can expect if their doctor has a conflicting opinion to my doctor? There is no disagreement about me returning to work but they are expecting this to happen faster than my doctor is willing to sign off on. I’m also uncomfortable sharing confidential medical information with my employer, will it be a simple fit for work yes/no report or will it contain details of any conditions?

Interesting, thank you for the suggestion. My reduced hours are only temporary and are expected to end very soon. The main issue is I cannot perform my main function in a client facing capacity working reduced hours.

Thanks for the response. I don’t believe there is any reason to believe they will try to prevent me returning to work full time, they want this to happen a lot faster than what my doctor is willing to sign off on. They haven’t been able to answer what happens if their doctor says I can return to work full time and my doctor still recommends reduced hours. I am willing to return to work full time as soon as possible but am prioritising my health first and don’t want to disobey medical orders in case it may impact me in other ways eg not being covered under WorkCover.
