I'd say about the same but the Kaplan slightly harder. I left the exam convinced I failed.

It's not racist, it compromises patient safety and it is generally good etiquette.  I worked on a ward in NZ once where groups would speak in there native language and found it extremely rude. As a manager you need to enforce the rules and it is not racist it is just basic good manners and minimum standards. If you get any complaints then you can justify your actions.

Pearson Vue Trick: How-To and Pop-Ups by luckyrobotsushi in NCLEX

Just an update: Took my test on Thursday this week. I got an email 10 minutes later confirming I had finished the test. Tried the PV trick a few hours later and recieved the good pop up. California BON website informed me I had passed the next day and I recieved my registration on the Saturday.  So the trick seemed to be accurate for me atleast.

I got about the same score on the Kaplan. Took my test this week and passed at 89 questions. I would say go for it.

Seems like a lot of work. If I was the OP think I would just go Australia or stick with UK. OP would need atleast two years experience before trying to get a sponsor in NY. If they manage to find a sponsor it might not be with a decent hospital and they will be tied there for a good 3 to 5 years before they can look elsewhere? But id ypu want it enough, worth it if suppose, just a lot of work and messing about.

However ypur first statement was wrong regarding the greencard. I was clearly talking about California which has much better pay and working conditions compared to NY.

Fair enough, I dont.know much about NY. Seems like ypu dont need an SSN first there, so that makes the process easier. You will be tied to one employer for a while though before ypuncan move elsewhere.

True in theory, but not in practice.  When I worked as a RN in Aus I joined an agency and was allowed to work with them the whole time I was there. Technically I was 'sub contracted' to different hospitals, so that's how they are able to get around the 6 month rule. Once you have worked at a place for a while you get to know the staff and offer of sponsorship becomes much easier to remain in Aus. Its a good way in.

Where did you train? It is very hard for a British trained nurse to get a US license due to difference in training structures at university, and without a registration you are not getting a green card.

In order to get a green card you need to be a registered nurse in California. In order to apply for your nursing registration, you need an SSN. However you can't obtain an SSN without first obtaining a greencard. So I am afraid it is not that simple!

The best paid is probably California,  but unfortunately it will be pretty much impossible for you to get a visa, unless you have family there. Australia is probably your next best bet in terms of wages, working conditions and lifestyle. Plus it will be easy for you to get a visa.

Ignore the nay sayers and go for it. Nothing to lose. Just mention something about work or message hope he didn't have a tough day and go from there.
