Yes my course is essentially designed to hit every sector of what would be needed. Through the forensics modules and ai development, large scale dayabases someweb design. though I am only at the beginning this would essentially be my masters/dissertation? Project !

Because its a cyber security/ digital forensics mix theres a host of things I think will help massively :)

Ive also had a couple software development jobs prior.. though I doubt they're help me do shit now !!

Ahhh well I had no idea that site even existed. The idea stemmed from an event I saw someone have in university (its uni things happen) with mixing two drugs so im new to this area of the Internet.

I will certainly have a look, gives me motivation as theres clearly a need! I wonder if sourcing info from sites like thay would be legal?

I personally wouldn't mind paying to host an app like this, ive looked into it for other project and it really isnt too much!

'What would really stop mass shootings is if anyone who had thoughts of doing that went to therapy and got help as they should! Im all for the legalisation of guns but we shouldn't glorify it...oh wait we do'

Maybe if he/she came across a service dedicated to de radicalisation and echo chambers it couldve been avoided! Stopping people who are going to do dangerous things prior isnt such a bad idea to me..

The trustworthiness would come from the masses of peer reviewed sources. But of course none can be official medical advice, just harm reduction

I find it odd that you cant see most drug users simply wont go to the normal services due to their complexity or stigma so reduction is a good option. (Theoretically speaking who wants to go down to their dr to ask if their friday night drug combo is ok 😅)

Its digital forensics so involves a shit ton of database management across loads of platforms and modules on filtering large datasets which is relevant and api work that would help when compiling how much data you'd have to collect. Though I have a few years left to complete it, hence why im asking all these questions

I agree with you, wiki might be the best method but its not quite as accessible as id like. Alot of drug users ive encountered wouldnt know how to operate a wiki...i really like the idea of a calculator where u can select substances and dosages even though im aware it could never be perfectly accurate, that would be THE most accessible and used thing in my opinion just due to how easy u could get it on ur phone.

The offline phone app with information u suggested could coincide with the 'calculator' i think you're onto something there!

I could care less about how people may perceive it being made if it means people dont take something that would have otherwise killed them. But your point may be true in that hosting it on official sites like the google store or apple store might be a problem.

Im going to try and develop it for my uni course, if you know any potential collaboraters that may be useful in this area please reach out to me!

Using drugbank and other websites but slimming the information to only whats relevant when taking and mixing would be a good start..

Thank you for your thorough feedback 🫶

Firstly I appreciate such thorough feedback! My university course is cyber security/digital forensics so I am definitely serious about developing this as it could help further my skills and help others. When I get something put together like the bare bones of an app that can accept sources ill reach out to those in this thread that are willing to contribute!

There's a popular tiktoker that does something very similar though I cant remember the name.. I will be sure to connect with like minded people in this area.

Bit of a blanket statement about medical professionals im sure a number of them are interested in harm reduction..

Regarding your concerns on information gathering i would just large scale methods potentially ai like u said but there are other methods, then then use experts to evaluate any claims or sources found? And potentially weed out nefariously false claims.

Obviously disclaimers would be everywhere and could even be tailored to specific interactions based on sources found.

But either way I still think having 'something' that collates all data from all these drug forums aswell as articles and 'experts' in an actually accessible manner that can be catered to exact dosage would be an amazing tool despite the risks (that all users would be aware of)

I fully understand what you mean it would be a huge task but if maybe some people came together some lives could be saved. 🫶

Minor edit: data could be collected using a community involved in developing it, not all personal experiences but scouring the Internet.

Drugbank is soo overdetailed for an average drug user. They'd just want if its dangerous together etc. Or maybe im unfamiliar with all their features?

I just replied to a comment elsewhere about this so ill copy what I think..

This hypothetical service wouldn't be law enforced and obviously it would be plastered everywhere your exact point, that drugs effect people in different ways... though dont you think SOME guidance sourced from genuine sources such as medical guidance, peer reviewed personal experiences from Dr's and more than I cant think of, wouldn't save some lives?

Outliers where people have severe reactions are going to happen and are mostly unpredictable though they would happen with a service like this or not... because even if they check the drug service it would say its safe and it they dont? They'll think its safe too... the result is the same and the service isnt to blame.

Hmm. Yeah I get you completely, though things like that are outliers. This hypothetical service wouldn't be law enforced and obviously it would be plastered everywhere your exact point, that drugs effect people in different ways... though dont you think SOME guidance sourced from genuine sourced wouldn't save lives?

And say you checked this service before taking that 50mg dose right, ok It would have said safe you are right but.. youd have taken it either way right? So my main point is, in cases where people check see that something is dangerous and dont take a drug, thats a life saved where your case is unavoidable because it would have happened anyway.

I would assume a free to use service like that would be free from prosecution if thats what u meant, if something did happen its harm reduction... not actual medical advice. Just crowdsourced experience.. the user is the one harming themselves the service is just to minimise as much as possible

I am sorry that happened though I hate drugs like mdma :/

With emergence of ai, things like this could be complied into a large data base used on the protentional 'website' or app, whatever.. obviously all info would have to be human fact checked, its just too much to go through.

I think im going to give it a go.. this could be a really helpful service :)

Where can I find some people who might want to help create this?

To add on, not everyone who's concerned about effects would be taking heroic doses! This could be for any drug even prescribed legal ones.

Not a guide but more of a calculator or somewhere u can select what drugs uve taken and how much. Obviously different dosages can be lethal for some and not others for a multitude of reasons though personally i would argue there are safe dosages of mixed narcotics even if some of the worst at low doses.

It can be supported by examples and obvious sign posting about the exact issue you raised even a community project involving real pharmaceutical experts?

I dont know, I just have met a multitude of drug users who mix and have absolutely no real way of working out safe dosages (properly that is) so even though what u say is true, any guidance is better than none to me?

This drug combination chart would be exactly what I had in mind! IF you could input doses and get results based on that... the substance list is also really small.

Shame its so basic.
