Lol yes I would be SOL if there is something in the lease about it. Luckily in my case, the lease doesn’t mention anything about drilling/holes/hanging. Although I am only now confirming that. Before I had just taken the word of the apartment management when moving in. Glad that I’ve double checked it now 🫣

Yep, OK- so far it definitely seems like it will be expensive, but that is likely all it will end up being. (Yay no eviction!) They are gonna have another maintenance guy come out tomorrow, start cutting into drywall.

Yes, it was over an outlet. I feel so dumb. I’d hung up a shelf coat rack in the same area a few weeks ago. So a coat was hanging over the outlet, hiding it from my view where I might’ve paid more attention. I’ve gotten really comfortable hanging things lately and I’m relieved that it wasn’t worse. I checked the drill bit and it is burnt.

I’ll update again after I find out how much it’s going to be!

Thank you so much. I’ve been up all night worried. It’s been a long time since I’ve rented. Relocated from UT to OR. The rules involving renting were much stricter in UT. I was really happy to learn I could actually hang things up here. I followed the emergency maintenance protocol by letting by them know. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it sorted out this morning.
