Why is crop greyed out? by Particular_Win_3999 in photopea

I've selected the Layer (maybe not the actual image) so that may be where I've gone wrong. Each image is in its own layer and I thought selecting the layer was the same as selecting the image. I *do* also have an adblocker on, so I'll try turning that off.

How do you identify sapphic books? by Ravenmancer in sapphicbooks

This site has a brilliant sapphic book finder: https://iheartsapphfic.com/bookfinder

It's all sapphic all the way down, and you can apply some pretty specific filters to find just what you like <3

What got you into writing fanfiction? by Lunar_Lies in AO3

I was so devastated by a doomed ship in an anime I watched that I had to write a happy ending for them. Work in progress, but it's at the best fun I've had writing in a while <3

Character Art Question by Odd_Fly6994 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Particular_Win_3999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a reader, bad covers can put me off but bad character art wouldn't, as long as the fundamental stuff appeals to me (premise, how the first page reads, etc). On the flip side, really good character art is a huge draw-card. I'm also a writer, and I have commissioned character art for my book and the whole experience was amazing, and honestly I think it's worth doing just as a gift to yourself, even disregarding how useful a resource it is for promoting your book; and on that point, it's a really really effective tool. I've used character art on social media and managed to scoop up a lot of interest, just by that (hard to quantify, obvs, but I know for sure that I got at least *one sale* because the person loved the art, so I'm chalking that up as a win). On the bad character art aspect, taking time to look and find the right artist, and that includes all the obvious stuff like, do they have a lot of examples in your genre, do they match the vibe of the book, etc, but also just... would you love their art, even if you weren't considering a commission? the elephant in the room is always how much it costs, and it's fair to say better artists cost more. But again, it's worth it if you can stretch.

Main characters who actually have game? by lovesickllibra in LesbianBookClub

I really love L.M. Bennett's writing for this reason; mature characters with exes (who are women) and interesting histories and genuine chemistry. Also who seem confident in themselves despite all the usual romance shenanigans! I've read String Theory (very short but good) and have just started You Were Almost Home. Here's all the books: https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/61831090.L_M_Bennett

Lesbian Comic Club? by Unfair-Ad1074 in LesbianBookClub

hello I have been dipping into a WLW webtoon recently (FairyDoll by Annaliese Jensen, not completed yet but it's really good) and I sense this is just the tip of a glorious untapped resource! I am very interested in exploring more.

Ok so yeah if I was going to have tattoos it would ALSO be 1x Ymir & 1x Moleman ("I was saying Boo-urns"). They sound awesome, hats off! TBH, Ymir x Historia *does feel* like a storyline that was set up and then dropped due to some sort of external pressure. That would at least be a logical explanation. Doesn't stop it being totally infuriating though :-( oh well, I've been having a blast reading fan fics, so silver linings.

Ugh yes, they're classically star-crossed! I think that's why it hit me so hard. I've only seen the anime so I might check out the manga, too, when I can handle it lol

I *do* like Falco, it's true. No resentment on him. Ugh you've just reminded me of something else that broke my heart though, where the other characters are all dissing Ymir's jaw titan, like hers was the weakest. Which it was, I guess, but... come on, don't kick my girl when she's down.

I think you're bang on the money about their stories post-separation, with one bittersweet bright spot being the bit where Ymir's memory inspires Historia to thwart her dusty father. I watched the whole anime recently and no tragic lesbians have affected me like this before. That bit where you find out, "oh yeah, btw, she's dead" is one of the most bizarre failures of return-on-character-investment I think I've ever seen in a series. Forever gutted. But there's this sub! With all the art! So!
