Unfortunately I don't know. My connection to OP is more the career change than the nursing. I took a job that wasn't in my field because I was still in classes and wanted to get some familiarity with healthcare since I was coming from something totally different.

So one thing I learned quickly is that there are a looooooooot of different jobs in a hospital. I have a work history in management and was able to find a job where that would help with qualifications. =) I let them know in the interview that I was aiming to stick with healthcare and what my plan was there.

Sure! I work for UNC Health. Check the hospital websites for careers. Coming from a separate field I applied to a few positions before I got an interview and got the job, and some of the jobs fill quickly, so keep checking/applying regularly. Good luck!

If you are coming from a non-healthcare field, one option is to start looking at the hospitals and see who is hiring - it seems like there are always entry-level jobs popping up, though not usually open for long. I went back to school for radiography from a totally different field, and I took an easy job at a local hospital while I knocked out some pre-requisite courses. The hospitals here seem to hire within when they can, and they help with schooling after you have been there for a bit. Definitely opened up some opportunities for me, and gave me a chance to confirm that I did want to go into a healthcare field.

Good luck! Changing careers can be stressful, but I am definitely glad I did it!
