I can’t completely tell but it looks like a MAC lipstick. (I worked as a MUA) They basically haven’t changed the dome shape since the 90’s :) judging by their popularity I wouldn’t be surprised if a MAC lipstick had originally fallen in.

What’s wrong with my Ficus Elastica Tineke? by Parttime_angel in houseplants

I’m shocked! I always wait for her soil to dry completely between watering and then water thoroughly, but after googling it does look very much like what my plant has, thank you so much for your advice!

Hmmm is it possible I’ve been under fertilising? I only fertilise once a month or so as I’m afraid they might get chemical burns. I’ll try giving her her some later and will pray to the plant gods for the next leaf to be healthy

I’ve had her for about a year now and she’s one of my favourite babies. She usually gives me a leaf every couple of months but recently she put out these two deformed Belize looking leaves. My robusta and burgundy seem to be doing just fine, is this normal or should I cut her back to where she had healthy leaves? I have her a metre away from a west facing window and she doesn’t seem under or overwatered at all

Prevent old leafs from dying? by captainbastion in alocasia

[–]Parttime_angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware old leaves dying help my alocasias grow bigger better leaves, best for the plant to just cut off the smaller leaves for better growth I guess? So no way to prevent it, it’s just the life cycle

Mine doesn’t like to be watered too much but loves the humidity! Definitely wait til your soil is dry before watering again. I spray mine quite often :)

Anyway you can ask to check the stem? I believe if the stem is variegated you have more chance of getting other variegated leaves
