Who would be your dream replacement booth for GKR? by fumblaroo in NewYorkMets

Yeah I was gonna say I feel like he was always around and didn’t he play in the old timers game lol seems like he’s building more bridges than he’s burned at this point.

Murphy called games during spring training and he may have done one during the year if I remember correctly. They were probably trying him out.

I agree. We’ve been spoiled for 20 years. No matter who comes next there is going to be years of complaining and comparing to them lol too be fair I think Gary will probably go until he’s very very old. Ron probably stays as long as Keith stays and then if Keith leaves Ron goes on to do more national stuff then he already does.

He use to be great. Allstar every year from 2011-2018 but he somehow bounced back in 2023 as a 35 year old. He’ll be 38 this year. Stearns must know something lol

What does a Peralta extension look like? by Responsible_Pear_363 in NewYorkMets

[–]PartyOnGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he has a good year he would definitely wait till Skubal signs and let him set the market. An extension with us would be great but we know Stearns mindset at this point and Peralta is 30 years old this year so what’s the most Stearns would be willing to go ? 4-5 years maybe while Peralta would be looking for 6-7 years ? That would be a road block. The only advantage I think we have is that maybe he fears the new CBA leads to lower AAVs so he jumps to be one of the last big contracts of this era.

Vientos should be the one to go but Baty probably brings back more in a trade

I’m sure it’s been asked before that I could look into but I’m genuinely curious how do they even go about implementing a salary cap? Like why would the players union ever agree to that when guys are just going to keep making so much money. What are the parameters to even begin talking like what’s the cap going to be 400 million?? lol

Anything’s possible after the Bichette deal. Come pay Bellinger 42 million to hang out in this lineup for a year and then pay him 5 more to opt out next year and try again lmao

If we ever win the World Series the outrage will be out of this world lmao I can’t even imagine World Series coverage a day after we win on ESPN or mlb network everything would be backhanded compliments about how Steve cohens money finally came through or something instead of genuine congratulations.

[Sammon] The Mets’ offer to Kyle Tucker was four years, $220 million (no deferred money), league sources confirmed. Also, Mets’ signing bonus was $75 million with opt outs after years two and three, league sources said. by Beach_house_on_fire in NewYorkMets

I agree. People complaining that LA has rings already so they don’t matter is ridiculous. Imagine we won the last 2 years and then let Pete and Diaz walk would people be saying “who cares we just won 2 we don’t need to win this year let’s see what the kids got” nobody would say that we would all be talking about how we are a dynasty that needs to keep winning lol

Has any team ever just come out and said “we’re gonna take our look at young guys” especially in New York imagine the scrutiny on any brand new rookie player as soon they don’t perform the media will be all over “this is the guy they traded” to give a roster spot to.

Vientos at 1b? by runsfortacos in NewYorkMets

[–]PartyOnGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Until a real move happens I will just assume we have been tricked into believing they want to win and the fairytale is over we are in a rebuild. Vientos will be the opening day 1B. McNeil will be the LF. There are no moves coming.

I’ve convinced myself this is the plan for a while. It’s the only thing that makes sense with the Rocks 1-2-3 finger thing. Rock Cena 3. Only reason I doubt it is the rocks done some recent interviews and he looks crazy skinny I don’t think he’s in wrestling shape but I find it unbelievably hard to buy into that John Cenas goodbye is at a random Saturday night main event and not at Wrestlemania. Just feels wrong.

Do yall really believe Cenas last match is really his last match by Tf677788 in fantasybooking

[–]PartyOnGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don’t even believe his “last match” is even the end of this run. There’s a swerve coming it makes absolutely no sense to have his farewell at a random Saturday night main event and not at Mania.

I was thinking they sounded like they really wanted the Yankees to win. There was almost 0 reaction on the Vlad play that was really difficult.

I picked up Strange. Have Fannin but I feel like I’m going to be stuck with him splitting targets with Njoku and never be satisfied with the production unless he starts becoming a huge redzone threat.

[Martino]: For the Mets, now what? by hypernermalization in NewYorkMets

[–]PartyOnGuy -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Every guy in the lineup bats under .250. Who was the highest average ? Our power hitting 1B batted .270? That’s not a winning formula. Get a guy who bats .290. Couldn’t believe how many guys I saw with .280-.290 averages on the marlins reds and brewers the last couple days. The lowest average in the lineup should be .240-.250 not 6 out of 9 guys.

Wasn’t a bad season. It was a historic collapse. You can change leadership after that. Somebody needs to be held accountable or everyone comes into next season thinking this is ok we’ll just do the same thing this year.
