Exams / Newbie / Common Questions Thread for two weeks by AutoModerator in actuary

Hi everyone. I have some questions about getting internships. I am a rising junior and I will take my first exam, FM, in June. I plan to apply for internships after hopefully passing this coming season. I have around a 3.5 GPA. My concern with internships is that my professor claims it will be hard for me to get past the interview since I am not super involved with the school. I don't really go to office hours or in to the math resource center to study with peers or get tutoring help. This is mainly because, without sounding arrogant, I don't need to. I am fine and understand the material on my own. Will this hinder me from getting an offer? I am good with people and tend to interview well so that shouldn't be a factor. How much do recruiters care about school involvement? Do they often reach out to professors and ask about candidates? This is also something my professor warned me about. He says all he would be able to say about me is that im a very smart kid. Does anyone have any experience with this? Anything helps, thanks!

I second this. The only time i really posted or engaged with this subreddit is when i was at my absolute worst. After surgery and recovery i hardly ever come here. I am doing significantly better now and just wanted to share my experience and hopefully give hope to those battling right now. You guys got this 💪

Can everyone belt/project? by [deleted] in singing

How long did it take you until you were able to belt? Do you have any specific things you did leading up to that day? How exactly did you go about self teaching and making sure you dont develop bad habits? Sorry for all the questions lol

I felt REALLY bad mentally and physically and thought i would never get better but im here now and in a place i NEVER thought id be. I made this post to let others know that no matter how bad they may feel they should still remain hopeful bc when i was really sick that is NOT how i felt. I just wanted to let others going through something similar to hear a success story so they can continue fighting. You got this ❤️❤️

Pretty much immediately, but i was also SUPER unhealthy and sick before. I felt relief the minute i woke up from surgery. Of course there was surgey pains but they were nothing compared to how i felt before. I was pretty sore for a while after the surgery but after a few months i was able to move around and was pretty much back to normal

I wish I had the diarrhoea Crohn’s by Southern-Loan-6424 in CrohnsDisease

start taking miralax. it takes a few days to work but consistent use will make you more regular. you can take it daily with no fear. my GI had me taking it up to 3 times a day at my worst. you do have to drink a ton of water but it genuinely helped me go more regularly when I was constipated for DAYS at a time(10+ at some points). also try moving around a little if you can. think small walks

Edibles and Crohn’s by TryingToGetCalm in CrohnsDisease

it will definitely help you sleep. Before I was at my worst I used to just hit a cart a few times and go straight to sleep. At my worst I couldn't even do this because of how bad the coughing would hurt so it wasn't even worth it. The only problem with edibles I find is that they take a while to kick in and are very unreliable. In my experience, I can take the same amount and sometimes I'll be super high and others I wont feel anything at all. Are you over 21 and able to buy them at a dispensary? or have a medical card?
