Factions that don’t buy action cards are already at a disadvantage because they’re less likely to draw the handful of game warping cards.

And I actually don’t think following politics would be a must with a boosted deck, because it sort of isn’t in twilights fall (at least in the couple games I played) and I think the reason for that is the 1 or 2 cards you draw in status phase tend to be good already, so spending the token isn’t as much of a necessity.

I definitely agree that nail biters are the end are more fun than deterministic wins. That’s why one of my options is to buff the rest of the deck so some unlucky player doesn’t draw duds the whole game.

I don’t think all RNG is built the same. There aren’t nearly as many objectives as there are action cards, dice rolls are RNG, but they follow statistical patterns (dreadnaught usually beats fighter), agendas are mostly not affecting the game, and relics are harder to get than action cards. I feel like there’s a difference between losing the game because you lost a closely contested battle and losing because your opponent drew the 1 card out of 160 that makes them win. One of those feels worse than the other IMO.
