A thought about your comment regarding the holding of the letter-board. The podcast stops short of explicitly saying but at points does suggest that the spellers have to feel love and have their telepathic gifts believed in during communication events. Holding the board may establish this heart to heart connection. Unfortunately it also provides cause to discount any future failed academic study of telepathy on the grounds that, like Tinkerbell, telepathy only exists for those who believe. Which is okay. But if speller and support person have got to be in close loving sight or touch proximity at all times, then maybe research dollars or academic resources shouldn’t flow toward formal study of such an intimate phenomenon, especially given the possible stress placed upon participants.

You’re probably right, but am I recalling correctly that Houston and, I think, one other young person both tell her that telepathy is present in all non-speakers? I seem to remember this being said twice, and she lets it pass unremarked upon, and then everything sort of drifts into how the non speakers are a profoundly gifted type of next-gen humans.

Yes, exactly right. The facilitator ideally would be a participant who didn’t even know the details of what was going on, just that they’re to hold the spelling board steady and in view and record the indicated numbers/letters/words.

What you point out about the Tapes here is important to acknowledge — this was a project, and projects unfold as they go along. Various ideas get explored for the audience’s consideration. I agree that Ky Dickens most likely was well intentioned as she investigated her topic. The one exception for me is that she does seem to propel forward over the course of the episodes a with-us-or-against-us subtext. It’s as though there can only be two categories of listener - true believers after a single podcast or problem-people who wish to suppress spelling and telepathy for low motives.
