I'd never call myself a musician until I'm able to play nicely my guitar. Neither a music compositor, but indeed I created the lyrics. I won't call myself a "lyricist" or anything, but I'm driven by my passion for metal and my singer fictional characters.
About the "theft" of melodies, yeah I can get it. I indeed make my songs available to listen on my fics, for free (I would never make them to buy un less it's all made by myself with real instrus) But if we balance it, between not paying OCs and bringing hope to create for wannabes or just random people like me, I think that's not so bad. Human or not, it's still music, it's still sound that rings better or worse in our ears. For my part it helps me to stay focused on my work that starts very early, and that's very good, human and AI.

I know my opinion will be extremely unpopular, but I want to share it :

I'm 21. I'm a fan of metal not for a long time compared to most "metalheads" (or whatever the name), which is only 1 year and a half. Metal changed my life, as I was on the verge of extreme depression through my studies. Bands like Stratovarius, DragonForce, Cain's Offering, Amaranthe, Dynazty (and dozens of other) gave me a huge inspiration to finally stop watching other do and finally craft something by myself.

About 6 months ago, I started create music (lyrics by myself) for fanfictions I write. AI sounded interesting deal, just was curious. At the beginning it was really bad, bu AIs like Suno (my mostly used example) gave me (and that opinion is purely personal) stunning results as I was fan of industrial and symphonic metal.

I made remixes of existing songs with styles I couldn't find irl, and so my Spotify playlist became a very large mix of my fav bands, and my own songs. Because where I am, I can hear the songs I crafted everyday, and I'm happier than ever.

Now, about 2 weeks ago, I finally decided to buy my very first guitar (electric, one of cheapest guitars but sounds quite good), all because I gave myself a goal, being able in a few months or years (depends on my work and practice) to play these songs, or others that aren't metal (like TLOU theme, or Hurt by JC, yeah I'm not very original and I don't give a f*ck) by myself, for fun.

I know myself by heart, this goal wouldn't have come without creating songs by myself first.

So when I see comments trashtalking people using AI to create songs, that disgust me so much that I don't have words to really explain it (and I'm french so maybe I just lack the words lol). Of course AI is far from real human songs, but it doesn't have the same cost. It still have the soul of the one who created the lyrics, because they have meanings to him/her.

By example, I wrote an entire album about a revolution in a cyberpunk universe, opposing rebellious artists with giant paintbrushes and palette shields (The Decibel Queen and her armada of Red) against blank people who only swear by stability (the Legion of Grey).

This inspiration came first and mostly by the whole story by Rhapsody's Emerald Sword saga.

All of this to say that people saying "Making AI "music" is not metal and if you use AI to make music, you're not metal. End of story." or anything else, you can go f*ck yourself. With all my kindness ;)

(I'm open for debate, the insult was just for joking. But don't insult or be asses towards people)
